Bluebell was my first ‘holiday piece’ this year! She’s wearing a headband similar to the one I picked up when I arrived in Brisbane and has the sweetest little expression. This is a pastel painting of my niece, Sasha, at the mirror in my Mothers bedroom. I posed her so that I would be able to see her in both mirrors. I wanted to pose her in late afternoon to capture the warm light illuminating her. This painting is approximately life size. Painted on oversize Canson paper in deep blue color. Received the Vincent and Barbar Giffuni Purchase Award in the Pastel of America’s Pastel Only Show in NY, NY.
