I couldn’t go past these gorgeous blue doors without taking a shot. Found in the back streets of Asnieres sur Seine, Paris, France. This image was chosen to represent Red Bubble in the Sept 07 issue of Australian Photography,
Like a fairytale castle Mont Saint Michel at dusk in the rain, I got wet and cold but it was worth it for images like this. A blended exposure using HDR techniques. All money raised in the sale of my art until November goes towards the Steven T. Hill Stroke Foundation. A winter panorama shot of the valley Valldal on the west coast of Norway, taken during the christmas holiday. Stitched together of 15 pictures. Post-processing: / Stitched some pictures together, obviously. Fixed the contrast with curves, added a lighter curve only on the lower part as the valley was pretty dark, and the mountain tops really light. Added two black and white layers set to hard light (140%), mainly on the sky and the mountain tops.

Such a mighty stream! No surprise that the waters of Trümmelbach are so powerful; the area this brook drains includes the famous glaciated mountain trio Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau... The beautiful Isle of Skye. / Typical Scottish Highland weather, bursts of sunlight, lasting for three minutes if you are lucky, between heavy showers that soak you to the skin, lasting around five hours. Or more. LOL ! / You don’t have to be mad to live here, but it helps, as the saying goes ! A magic place all the same ! / Have you ever tried to set up a tripod where the heather and bog myrtle grow in abundance, teetering on the brink of a raging burn? (Burn = river) It ain’t easy ! / It causes you endless grief, for one thing, the blasted tripod wobbles around, and it disturbs those dear wee midges, which bite you to the brink of insanity, then you have a wee puppy craving attention threatening to knock the tripod/camera/you into the burn, and I can’t swim either. / Combined with Family members watching your attempts and laughing then getting bored, it is a small wonder that any images get produced at all. Professional ?? Ha Ha Ha Ha !! / Hysterical laughter ! Shot on my CANON EOS 40D, mounted, sort of, on my tripod, polarising filter, f22, 1/4 sec, 17-85mm IS Canon lens, at 22mm, iso100, auto wb, three shot RAW files processed in Photomatix, then fiddled around with in PS CS3, with some more selective tone mapping applied. A scene I have often passed by, but either the light was wrong, or I didn’t have the time. / On this occasion, things fell into place, except for the fact that I had left my tripod at home !! DOH !! (on a shopping trip for provisions to Fort William !) / It is a hand-held three shot hdr, because of the extreme lighting. / Loch Lochy is reputed to have a “monster” like Loch Ness ! Shot on my Canon EOS50D, iso 100, auto wb, three RAW’s at -2EV, +2EV,0EV, hand held braced against a bush for added stability, Canon 17-85mm IS lens set at 53mm, f11, processed in Photomatix, then Adobe CS3, with colour adjustments, and more selective levels / curves. Notre Dame, Paris, captial city of France. The last in my Notre Dame series. I created six versions of this shot, trying different textures, colours and layers, but this was the first one that moved toward a theme or emotion that I wanted. It feels quite lonely and stripped of hope to me, but I’m sure it will have varied meaning to the individual. 8 layers of texture from www.deviantart.com free use stock – Amurrr. Lightened each layer, adjusted hue and colour levels, blended each with 3 layers of the photo, one b&w, one colour and one desaturated. Flattened image and further colour tweaking and adjusting. Canon SX100IS Edited and layered 9pm MCN: C5T31-6FEVA-GM6TW
