Grace is falling like fireworks onto a park-like setting where swans float and hunt for missing flowers, lazy fishermen, soldiers out of work, bloated homeless drunks, and dancing women, who are all dressed in flowered printed short skirts, who hang balloons and streamers and stir large pots of spicy, hot stew to prepare for the festival. Music dashes through the air as a nun jogs next to a woman pushing a poodle in a baby carriage. The water is warm. It waits for participants. Patiently.

I use a combination of ink, pastel, charcoal and acrylic paint. I like to use pastel over the top of acrylic, allowing the acrylic to show through a bit. Hula Hips is a really out there kinda girl, loves life and lives it to the full! A nice happy birthday card this would make :D

The Land Where Souls Play ~ Pa’ia Beach Maui Hawai’i “An awakening to dawn mist on the water, / flowing Spirit’s streams to God’s alter, / purifying essence whistles through the trees, / images of the sacred blowing in the breeze. / Flights of fancy from birds up high, / feathers of many colours filtering through the sky, sun, moon and stars envelops Earth’s dome, / we’re all birds of a feather, finding our way home. Spectacle of mesmerizing movements flashing in the mind, / melting pots of humans, secrets hard to find, love all embracing whispers on the wind, no physical presence, ecstasy from a light dimmed. Gifts of joy enmeshed in music and dance, visualizing images filtering in a trance, warriors in a drumbeat at journeys end, back to the womb of creation enmeshed in a substance blend. I’ve been on a mission to conquer the abstract-a true measure of an artist, I think, as there is no ‘reality’ to compare it too, no likeness to draw close to. Just you. You decide to continue, or when to stop. When to use the ‘f’ word-as we used to tease our sculpture teacher>there is no such thing as ‘finished’. I think there is. the energy passes-it’s time-if you go over, it become overworked and pushed, forced. And therein lies the art.
