  • As morning breaks, a dramatic sky threatens to flood the ground below with light. Reminiscent of a plane coming in to land.

  • The Devil’s Marbles. This wonderful rock formation is near Tennant Creek, Northern Territory. This image was shot on film with a Nikon F70d and yes, I used a polariser to match the natural colours.

  • Unusual angle on the Anzac Bridge, Sydney.

  • Me again, sorry!

  • This is part of a series that I am working on. Called morning noon and evening. My thought is to have the same background image in 3 variations showing how one place can evolve and change moods. I have reasently created a second image / / Noon

  • GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS / Photo best viewed large. / / / / / / FEATURED WORKS / “GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS” was FEATURED in the group #1 ARTISTS OF RED BUBBLE / / / I took this photo of Mammatus on a Good Friday before Easter in Ashland, Kentucky. The clouds first started rolling in and looked like fluffy white marshmallows. Then in front of the setting sun they dramatically began to change colors. They went from snow white to shades of silvers, pinks, grays, blues and even purples! The colors were quite striking and dramatic; these clouds were nothing like anything I had ever seen before! For a few minutes they turned very dark, and it was a sight I will never forget!! These amazing mammatus clouds lasted about 45 minutes before they exited my area. / / / We were under our second tornado watch of the year, and I found out later that I was standing right under the anvil of a severe thunderhead and that a tornado could have formed at any moment! Luckily for me it didn’t, and I was able to capture some phenomenal, amazing clouds. I can’t quite put it into words other than to say, “I closed my eyes for a few seconds and felt like I had been kissed on my cheek by an angel.” This was one time in my life that I will always remember!!! / / / This photograph of “GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS” has won National awards, been published in an Anthology, and has been shown on National television. This image is also featured in several websites and blogs throughout the USA and Australia for educational purposes. / / /

  • 3200 ISO is a brave new world for me. As a self confessed low ISO junkie, one who used Ektar 25 film whenever and wherever he could for many years because I wanted tight grain, the tighter the better, I would pull out all the stops I could to use that amazing ISO 25 film! For sure I’d never gone above ISO 1000 and then only to shoot indoor sporting events. Low ISO was(?) a hang-up for me! But I wanted to try astral photography and high ISO can get you there! However as we all know high ISO leads to increased noise which is something fairly new to me. You can use software and Photoshop plugins but I’ve been considering, one way to control noise would be to minimize or eliminate it by keeping the ISO as low as possible and that’s one way I‘m leaning. So in that regard it looks like a fast 50 prime is in order! It’s fun to be experimenting and learning, eh! Camera Model Canon EOS 50D / Tv( Shutter Speed ) 30 / Av( Aperture Value ) 3.5 / ISO Speed 3200 / Focal Length 18.0mm / Flash at 1/16 power and about 12 or 13 paper towels for diffusion. “One Night Under the Milky Way” was shot at Flamber Head on Newfoundland’s East Coast Trail For more information please visit Brian’s Homepage or on Flickr

  • A less traditional choice of images in this Calendar, I have chosen to display how the never ending weather moods of the Scottish Highlands can dramatise a landscape. / Enjoy ! MORE CALENDARS HERE….................

  • Well, it rains more often than not on Skye, so a chance to use a photographic opportunity ! A few breaks in the cloud, the weak sun spotlighting the Landcsape…......click, shot in the bag ! / I love the thunder of water that echoes around me when I capture a shot like this, it raises my adrenaline level, and I confess to getting “high” !! / A late evening shot. A three shot HDR, RAW files, taken on my CanonEOS40D, mounted on tripod, f23, iso100, auto wb, polariser fitted to help blur the water a little more, (a ND would have done a lot more!), then processed in Photomatix, titivated up in Adobe CS3. Further enhancement, by duplicating the HDR image, applying full strength Orton, then layering back on to the original, (HDR!) and reducing the opacity until I was happy with the result !
