The Icelandic Harvester. / / When I came across this old vessel moored to the pier my imagination started running wild with scenarios of what life aboard this wooden vessel would have been like. I could almost feel the sineous texture of the ropes as they hung there coated in the ice cold saltwater of the frigid North Atlantic Ocean. I could nearly hear the calls of the sailors as they shouted commands back and forth across her weather beaten decks as the waves crashed down upon her on any one of her numerous voyages. What sights must have been seen as sailors of old lined the rails to peer down at the mysteries of the sea. How many men were lost at sea and how many made it home with wild stories of his adventure aboard the Icelandic Harvester. / / Shot with a Canon 400D and processed in Lightroom 2. / / NautilusBlue / / nominated this image to be showcased in the group Pay It Forward and this is what she had to say… / / Ice Breaker / by Kevin Kroeker / I think it is an outstanding image with great composition ( great leading lines) with lots of drama and the colours are amazing . This is a photo of the sea barrier at the wharf in St. Phillips, Newfoundland. The salt water from the ocean has rusted the bolts and caused this array of rainbow colors to stain the wood. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /

Although nature photography is probably my favorite sometimes I see ordinary objects sitting in a particular way and have to take a picture. Rarely do I move objects to compose a picture because I think things in the world are amazing just the way they are- you just have to look at them the right way. I was laying on my family’s old dock at our lake place in the sun and looked over at my flip flops and had to run back to the beach to get my camera for a picture :) I did take what color there was in the dock out in photoshop to focus the eye more on the old blue flip flops. /

This yellow dory was tied to the wharf for the winter. The boat launch had quite a steep angle to it… you can see the ocean far below, so the dory was secured with these blue ropes.I loved the contrast between the yellow boat and the blue ropes holding it securely. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / laminated print / /

Port Adelaide, South Australia. One day in March we took our kids on one of the Dolphin cruises, it was a really hot day. We are in winter at the moment so this is a little inspiration for what we have to look forward to in a few months time. this one was straight out of the camera, no cropping, no super duper improvements.
