  • The original concept sketch for, “Creature in Repose” “What seems to be the problem, chief? / “Nothing serious sir, we just seemed to have snagged the nets on something. We should be able to clear them soon…” The fishing trawler, Schnarly, inadvertantly awakens an ancient subterranean lava gobbler.

  • Well here it is folks…I will put up a better quality photo later. / After hours and hours of diligent crosshatching EVERY SINGLE SCALE, I have finished. • On a recent trip to Geelong I was walking along the beachside at sunrise and there were stranded Jellyfish like this guy everywhere… Some as blue as this, others white/clear..

  • “Seven Swallows Sitting” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © A family of Australian Woodswallows perched tightly together on a wire preening each other against a background of bright blue sky. Bowen, Queensland. “The swallow, bonny birdie, comes sharp / twittering o’er the sea, / And gladly is her carol heard for the sunny / days to be; / She shares not with us wintry glooms, / but yet, no faithless thing, / She hunts the summer o’er the earth with / wearied little wing.”

  • Giraffes are cool animals with their long purple tongues. =P All done in Photoshop.

  • a grump of blister-bodied Grinners swim past the good natured sea creature… I liked this bit of my larger “Sea Creature” pic, so while I am finishing that, I thought this section might make a cool card. I’ll upload it and see :)

  • I am occasionally asked how I start the crazy pics :) This is my concept sketch for “Sea Creature” / The good-natured sea creature gazes benignly at the nervous Grinners as they swim past, in their usual backwards style. The poison blisters on the Grinners’ backs were fully inflated, as though they expected trouble. Observers in the underwater viewing deck, were making notes. Temperatures had risen alarmingly in the Nglishoop sea and creatures like the Blister-bodied Grinners were stressed as a result of these changes and their response was to remain in defence mode. This was costing them valuable energy though, as it was usually reserved for short fight or flight occasions. They were aware, in their remarkably evolved brains, that something was not right, but nothing in their evolutionary coding had prepared them for anything like this. These brightly coloured underwater imps, were a critical part of the reef biome and the researchers were worried. Although they were terrestrial beings, the observers knew that their lives were inextricably bound to events that occurred in this underwater world. Time was running out… 5000+views

  • I like to doodle during boring lectures back in school.. And i came up with Yuriko-chan! I don’t really know what species she is.. It’s like a cat mix with a raccoon? Oo” / / Yuriko-chan loves to play in the snow and she always has lil flowers to offer, hidden in her lil pocket.. Yuriko-chan’s normally cute and friendly, but if someone steps on her tail, she’d brandish her deadly claws in no seconds!! • Medium: Acrylic and Watercolour Paint on Paper / Size: A4 / Description: About an octopus who has developed a suit so that he may walk with the humans. A piece to fulfill my curiosity with octopuses and old looking diving helmets. The character’s odd infatuation with the human race mirrors my own with his species. Completed in 2008. Little – 10×15cm, watercolour, chalk pastel, ink, conte, iridescent blue pigments (on the feather tips) on canvas. Unbelievably, unlike most other photos of my works, you can kind of see the iridescent pigments!

  • Dragonfly / Glass Lake – N.Y. / Olympus E510 / Female dragonfly lay eggs in or near water, often on floating or emergent plants. When laying eggs, some species will submerge themselves completely in order to lay their eggs on a good surface. The eggs then hatch into nymphs. Most of a dragonfly’s life is spent in the naiad (that is, nymph) form, beneath the water’s surface, using extendable jaws to catch other invertebrates or even vertebrates such as tadpoles, fish, etc. They breathe through gills in their rectum, and can rapidly propel themselves by suddenly expelling water through the anus. Some nymphs even hunt on land, an aptitude which could easily have been more common in ancient times when terrestrial predators were clumsier. The larval stage of large dragonflies may last as long as five years. In smaller species, this stage may last between two months and three years. When the larva is ready to metamorphose into an adult, it climbs up a reed or other emergent plant. Exposure to air causes the larvae to begin breathing. The skin splits at a weak spot behind the head and the adult dragonfly crawls out of its old larval skin, pumps up its wings, and flies off to feed on midges and flies. The adult stage of larger species of dragonfly can last as long as four months. (Wiki)

  • I have always loved Sea urchins and have always collected them from when i was a child right up into adulthood. They would be the first thing I would look for when I got out of my car and my feet hit the sand on the beach. Suprisingly there arent that many to be found anymore on the beach where I have always gone to find them. sony ax 300 SLR 70 – 200ml lense.

  • Please support me and favorite this piece here too. Thank you / / Click them / / / / Featured at the All Abour Your Best Work group on November 25th 2008 Featured at the Graphic Editing 101 group on December 6th 2008 Thank you all! Something that just came to mind, I’m very happy with the results!! This is actually somewhat like something else I’ve had in mind, hopefully I’ll get to that idea sometime soon. This idea was to make me an alien of some sort, beautiful, yet slightly scary and slightly human-like. When inverted, most of the colors on my face make up a regular-looking face. White = black, blue-green = skin tone. So I look half normal in terms of color when this picture is inverted.

  • Later that night … his dreams were full of birds and feats of derring-do.
