Took this on Stockton Bight, a long series of sand dunes that stretch from Anna Bay to Newcastle. These traps were placed to protect Williamtown air base (I believe) during World War II. 26km or so of these, 2m high concrete reinforced pyramids, and now all you can find is this small group, situated in a sand blow. Even they come and go depending on the wind. We took a tour from Anna bay, to see the tank traps, tin city and the wreck of the Sygma(?) I think the tank traps were the highlight for me OTHER NEW ZEALAND / FROGS / LENSBABY / INFRARED / BEACH / SPAM / PANORAMAS / LANDSCAPES / INDUSTRIAL

This is my latest little foray into the world of IR photography.. After looking through my gallery I decided that I desperately needed to get out and take some more shots, especially infrared ones.. / This was taken down at the same place that my Deserted World image was taken. / It was unfortunately the only IR shot that worked out today because I stupidly forgot to set the custom WB before heading out and didnt realise til I had finished all my shots so I then quickly rushed this one before heading home. / I hope you like it and as with all my work comments are more than welcome, whether complimenting or critiquing. The Tibetan word Bardo means literally “intermediate state” – also translated as “transitional state” or “in-between state” or “liminal state”. / There are six traditional bardo states known as the Six Bardos: the Bardo of This Life, the Bardo of Meditation, the Bardo of Dream, the Bardo of Dying, the Bardo of Dharmata (Reality) and the Bardo of Existence. I’ve long been fascinated by the concept of the various bardos and this image has a dream bardo kind of feel for me. Last shot of the day in downtown Chicago. As I was returning home, waiting in the subway for my train, there was a man with the most soulful voice singing for tips. Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone originally by Bill Withers is how I wish I could title this image because that was the last song I heard him sing as my train pulled away. I also thought it was interesting that behind the woman sits a child’s shoe even though no one else was around.
Just down the road from where I work there are a couple of old buildings which over the years have become the canvas for graffiti artists. Just last week the walls have been painted to cover the graffiti and the benches have been painted white as they were covered in graffiti as well. I was a little bit sad to see this. I was taken (almost against my will) to Victorian University of Technology in Footscray, where one of my friend’s needed to make an appearance at their Open Day, of which she was involved in the planning. I spotted this set of stairs and railings on the way back to the car. Suddenly the trip there was all worthwhile :) It was an overcast day and lighting was poor, but with the help of level tweaking, a blue filter and a dash of contrast, this grey concrete was looking a lot more fire ravaged. The horse sprays green water while the rest of Buckingham Fountain is aflame with colors. This fountain is set to music and changes color on cue with songs like God Bless America, every hour on the hour and is a feast of colors for those who gaze at it. All free for the public to enjoy in downtown Chicago.
