Motivated by fellow RedBubblers I headed down south for some South Australian sunset shots. Found a perfect spot along Aldinga Beach and snapped away. This was the last one for the night and talk about “save the best for last”.

This yellow dory was tied to the wharf for the winter. The boat launch had quite a steep angle to it… you can see the ocean far below, so the dory was secured with these blue ropes.I loved the contrast between the yellow boat and the blue ropes holding it securely. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / laminated print / /

Judging from photos taken before and after (in my file), it was at a spot somewhere between San Simeon and Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, Big Sur, CA (about 50 miles south of Monterey). / Shot with a Canon PowerShot S70 camera.

Heavy clouds gathering over a lonely Apostle near Gibsons Steps (Port Campbell Victoria) These giant limestone stacks are the remainders of what was once the rugged Victorian coastline, which eroded due to continuous sea waves and wind over thousands of years. This chain of limestone stacks was originally called ‘Sow and the Piglets’ with the Muttonbird Island near Loch Ard Gorge being the sow. The Twelve Apostles was officially adopted as its name in 1950s even though there have never been distinctively identifiable 12 limestone stacks. With the collapse of one Apostle in 2005, only 8 Apostles remained at the moment.

I turn off the television and walk through heat waves to eat sweets from the freezer, light cigarettes, blow kisses to shadows, feel along the floor for lost treasure and end up, once again, slapping color on canvas. / I see in my head a shape and wonder where it comes from. Is this a dream, a memory, a longing, a sudden flash from subliminal visions, a past live, a sign of the future or just the mad rambling of my hands letting something flow flow flow. / I remember the first time I saw the California coastline and it was like a dream. A foggy cold day in November and figures appeared as if they were waiting for me. I wondered if that was what death was like. / I remember an image of DNA on television. I can’t quite grasp how they illustrate something like that. I remember singing once in church when I was about ten years old and I thought the organ music was energy from God. I remember seeing seasides and always knowing that I belonged in the water, was part of the water, would return to the ocean waves on time that has no time that has no shape that has everything. Washing up onto a shore. Washing away sins. Washing over naked flesh and sweeping away clothing and washing overboard the dreams as well as the struggles. Washing over sand that glistens and hills that shine in the sun that drifts lazily from mountain to valley bringing darkness. And then light. And then shadow. / Continuing. Even when it evaporates.
