A couple of weeks ago I started a butterfly. The problem with this butterfly is that the only way I could see doing it was stippling! Now.. anyone out there that has EVER done stipple will sympathize with me and my eyes because this is going to be one helluva job! FYI, dimensions are 11×15 (it was a large sheet of watercolor paper that I cut into quarters – and have no idea of what kind of paper it was) watercolor paper with a minor texture. / Image #1 / / At any rate.. I started by using watercolor as my base. Did the background – to a degree – and did some of the coloring on the butterfly.. kind of “laying it out” for what was to come. Then I began the stippling.. / Image #2 / / As you can tell.. I’m just so speedy! / The layering of the assorted colors (I’m using Sharpie markers mostly) of the markers is beginning to show. I’m using 4 different blues, 3 different sizes of black, 4 or 5 greens and some red, purple, violet, orange, pink along with some yellow and of course white. / I’m using an “opaque” watercolor pen (just found this marvelous thing at the store the other day) which is helping to lighten up some of the areas that are to “blue”.. / We all make mistakes – the trick is in how we fix them! / Image #3 / / More layering happening. Even though I have 4 different sizes of black there are times that only the tiniest one will work and that’s what takes all the time. I’m trying to be smart and not rush this because – after the amount of work I’ve already put in – it would be awful to completely blow this! / Image #4 / / At this point the left wing is ALMOST done. The lower section has been darkened but the upper part still needs some work. Also the upper part of the right wing is getting more defined. One thing I will say about doing work like this.. you really do have to be patient because it is extremely time consuming for very little obvious progress. / Image #5 / / I think I’m going to be nice and just shut up because the changes are so subtle that you may not notice if I keep blathering.. / Imate #6 / / Just so you know, the pictures are taken after a session at the board. Whether that lasts for 2 hours or 15 minutes – you get the results. / Image #7 / / And now I can finally say that I believe I’m done.. maybe. / I’ve added more green to the background and added a little more white to the areas that needed it. / Image #8 / / The signature is on and it is – for all intents and purposes.. complete today 05/20/2008.. until I start another.

I have to admit the following list of cards were purchased by none other than myself; I wanted to have a small sample on hand for a local event coming up soon….. 1 of Transparent Red Dragonfly2 / 2 of Cabin on the Lake / 2 of House of Boo Punzel Dapoot / 2 of Autumn Lake / 2 of Three Sisters Oregon / 2 of The Inner Depths of Blue / 2 of Follow The Light / 2 of Red Dragonfly on Umbrella Plant / 2 of Butterfly and Mimosa Ca’t wait to see how they all look; I have seen the Three Sisters Oregon card, as my dear friend and fellow photographer Bonnie Taylor Barry purchased three of them recently. I know the quality that Redbubble provides is top notch! Now I’m just going to try to be patient….........

Will anyone ever read this? I have my doubts. :) But I’m bored at work and I’m 100% hooked on this site. I uploaded five pictures to start out with. I have so many more that I can hardly wait to share! The Morpho ones are among my favorites. If anyone has any tips for getting the most out of RedBubble, let me know! Here’s who I am. I live in the Midwest, so the natural beauty here is of the gentle, sweeping kind: no mountains, oceans or canyons. But that’s okay, because flowers and tiny bits of nature are where I draw much of my inspiration. I believe that God made beauty so we would be drawn to him through the supernatural, inexplicable “music for the eyes” that is so plentiful all around us. As music for our ears is composed of harmony and melody and rhythm, so art for our eyes is composed of light and color and spacing. Art and music are the same, and come from the same Artist. There would be no beauty and no music if there were no Supernatural. Sometimes I hesitate to capture an image, either out of reverence for a timeless moment or out of fear that I will be under-representing something extraordinary. But the images I do capture, and minimally process, are from my soul, and I feel more alive when I look at them. It is being a part of creation, delighting in God’s abundant gifts and thanking him for the eyes to see. “Dear, if eyes were made for seeing, then beauty is its own excuse for being.” -Emerson

Hallo All, There are two questions I’d like to ask you all about my photos: Has anyone asked themselves why a blue coloured butterfly is called a Red Cracker? The Giant Atlas Moth has two snakeheads on the tip of his wings, has anyone noticed this mimicry? The mimic snakeheads are a deterrent against potential enemies , take a look and see if you can spot them. All the best and take care, / Robert
