Blowhole

  • Taken at Bicheno, East coast of Tasmania

  • Nakalele Blowhole truly a miracle of nature. A shelf of lava rock on the north shore of Maui eroded by the punishing sea until the waves created a vent that spews like a geyser off and on and when the llight of late afternoon hits the spray the miracle of rainbow color becomes apparent.

  • For me the most magical place on earth I think is Punakaiki or The Pancake Rocks along West Coast of New Zealand. Here all five of your senses are assaulted byt the elements that make up this wonderful spot. A visual treat is accompanied by feel and taste of salt spray on the air and booming of the waves hitting the limestone cliffs at high tide is like thunder.

  • What remains of the Blow Hole at Sunny Mead Beach, Great Ocean Rd. Australia Great Ocean Road Images /

  • Bihano Blowhole Tasmania Bay of Fires in Tasmania Australia If you look closely there is a rock to the right of the Blowhole on the tip there is a seagull. Click on the photo and see the larger view on this one! Thanks for visiting! / I really appreciate your comments.

  • This was taken near Steep Point – Useless Loop, Western Australia. Steep Point is the western most place in Australia.

  • Kayakers inside the cave at the Gloup, Deerness, Orkney. The Gloup is a collapsed blowhole – you have to kayak through a ‘tunnel’ to get into The Gloup – and then there’s a cave at the back as well. This photo was taken in the cave looking back out towards the Gloup and the ‘tunnel’. http://www.orcadiaimages.co.uk

  • The “Blowhole” Beachport South Australia. Last light tonight on the way home from Robe and just had to stop for the light! Best viewed large.

  • This blowhole is located on the island of Oahu. Sea turtles and whales also are sited from this site. Loved the spray. Edith This was taken with my Fuji FinePix S3100

  • On my last visit to Kiama, the sea was up, so the blowhole was working quite well. For those who have never been to the blowhole, the noise of the ‘whoooosh’ as the sea forces the air up through the blowhole, and then the slap of the water as it falls back to the rocks, is almost as impressive as the sight of the water itself.

  • This sculpture is entitled blowhole and is by Duncan Stemler and was taken on Thursday the 5th of February 2009 at the Docklands, Melbourne, Australia. Long exposure taken with my Canon 40D and processed in Adobe Lightroom 2 Featured in the Fine Art of Photography Group in March 2009

  • This is a pic (best viewed large) of the waves on the East Coast of Tasmania (near Freycinet I think). The rocks seemed really solid but the waves were moving them around and making holes in them. An example of the destructive nature of the waves in this southern clime. All we had to do was drive a little ways from our accomodation and there it was free for anyone to see. / Taken with Sony Cybershot 4.1compact camera.

  • Looking out from one of the boardwalks towards Seal Rocks, The Nobbies and the blowhole in the bottom right hand corner of the image. Light conditions were less than ideal but I just had to make do. There were so many kids jumping and running along the boardwalk which made it pretty hard to get a still shot. When walking back to the car we saw a penguin hiding under one of the boardwalks, don’t think I’ve ever been so excited in all my life! • The New South Wales, Australia, south coast town of Kiama has two iconic attractions – the lighthouse and blowhole.

  • The lighthouse at Kiama in New South Wales, Australia. Established in 1887 and located on Blowhole Point.

  • A natural formation known as a Blow Hole, as caves grow landwards from the forces of the waves and winds, they eventually find a weak spot in the ground above, and form blow holes. This one can be found on the Great Ocean Road, Victoria. If you havn’t been on the Great Ocean Road, I highly recommend it as one of the most beautiful coast lines, possibly in the world! Shot taken at 9:55am. Canon 50D, 10mm. Available Large, and definately best viewed LARGE.
