There’s an area not far from where I live that has several lotus blossom plants. The lotus blossoms bloom in the summer, yet, there’s no specific time in the summer that they blossom. so it’s really hit or miss. Luckily, I hit the right time. Also, this is the first of several individual blossom shots, and it’s the only one that had the sun backlighting the petals like this.

The trees at the studio in spring time are in full blossom with the promise of fruit. This one is plum. / Done in Colour pencil and white gouache on grey colourfix pastel paper. Size – 34cm x 46cm. 2007 / Won Highly Commended at the San Remo / Newhaven Art Show 2009. Sold at exhibition 2009. Has been featured in ‘Painted Nature’, Gorgeous Flower Cards’ and ‘Creative Cards’ groups.
