Arctotis … a beautiful flowering ground cover i have put in my garden …

I am a vibrant wild lily / Growing untamed and free / I open in the heat of midday / I spread my petals big and wide / And invite the sun’s warm rays inside / I am not shy and I will not hide / This primal power that lies inside All the other flowers / Run away and hide / Or openly despise and give nasty little replies / I do not grant them the bend of my pride / I don’t reply and I will not lie / Their stares and their glares / Like water off a duck’s back they glide All the bees want to come and see / What sweet juices hide at the core of me / They fight and boast and try to coast / Their way inside to hop on my feral ride / But I am a fickle flower with a wild root / And if you can’t handle my strength and my power / Then I think it’s best son, you step back from this flower

Gulf Fritillary Butterfly, Agraulis Vanillae is feeding from a blooming flower. / The Gulf Fritillary, Agraulis vanillae, a striking, bright orange butterfly of the family Nymphalidae, subfamily Heliconiinae. These were formerly classified in a separate family, the Heliconiidae or longwing butterflies, and like other longwings this species does have long, rather narrow wings in comparison with other butterflies. It is not closely related to the true fritillaries. It is a medium to large butterfly, with a wingspan of from 6 to 9.5 cm. Its underwings are buff, with large silvery spots. It takes its name from the fact that migrating flights of the butterflies are sometimes seen over the Gulf of Mexico. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- 2009 BUTTERFLIES CALENDAR / / / / / / Or a T-Shirt to go along with /

Here’s an image I’ve sat on for a few months undecided whether or not it’s RB worthy, but finally decided to test the RB waters to see if anyone likes it as I do… I guess I’m my own worst critic but I’ll see what you think first before I decide whether I leave this one up or not! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!! Basia.. /

Gazania is native of South Africa and is also called Treasure flower. The plant is treasured for its strangely patterned daisylike flowers. / It grows to a height of about 15 inches with a spacing of 12 inches. / The Gazania flowers bloom in solid colors from yellow to orange, red, pink and white or in or in wild color combinations with splashy stripes or rings of contrasting colors. They can be as large as four inches across. The leaves are finely lobed, dark green above gray, and grow in compact clumps 8 to 10 inches tall. Each clump supports a number of flowers held above the leaves on 6 to 10 inch stems. I love these flowers and have some in a tub outside our door this year. /

Two buds waiting for their turn to dazzle in the spring sunshine. / Remember tho this is scotland… I brought this houseplant into a (so far this year unused) ‘summerhouse’ during a sunny interval , but my model and I had to soon dash for cover to avoid frost damage…. :)) See also moment in the sun I found it hard to choose between these 2 images so have posted both . ... any tips or comments most welcome….(a nice change from mouldy apple macros at least i hope!) Untouched apart from cropping / / :) / /
