Near Puget Sound, Washington state I think we all have a special place / that beckons to us. / When we see it, we ask ourselves, / “What is beyond that door?” / This intriguing garden gate / is that place for me. / It is not too far from where I live, / down this private lane, / on the waterfront. / I have gone there / all seasons of the year …. / it always calls to me. / Perhaps one day, / I will go and knock on their door / and meet the people who live there / just to see if the garden is / as wonderful as the promise. / That would satisfy my curiosity! / Or then again, / ...maybe not! / Maybe I will just let it / remain a mystery / and keep it / perfect in my mind / and simply, / ” my secret garden…..” I have photographed this scene at most seasons of the year, but I think that Springtime is certainly the very best when the Rhododendrons bloom. In Washington State, the Coastal Rhododendron is our state flower.
