MY FAVOURITES - "Japanese Windflowers" by Tiffany Dryburgh
by Adriana GlackinNot all images in “My Favourites” necess…
Not all images in “My Favourites” necessarily illicit images or memories from childhood. “Japanese Windflowers” by Tiffany Dryburgh caught my imagination and everytime I look at this image, the same story unfolds… Helena is 83 and has lived in her inner city cottage all her life. The cottage, originally a worker’s cottage had been in her family since 1910. She was born in that simple home, as had all her children. Always a happy home, Helena simply delighted in tending the small garden. How times had changed, the neighbours had come and gone, apartment blocks now stood where a lot of the workers’ cottages once stood. But still, Helena maintained her sanctuary. The japanese windflowers were her pride and joy, temperamental things they can be, but this year’s blooms were the finest yet. Helena was looking forward to saturday, that was the day her children would be visiting and wouldn’t they be surprised at the many blooms filling Helena’s garden! ps. apologies to those who are perhaps expecting great pieces of writing – sorry – I’m definitely not a writer in any way, shape or form, I’m simply unleashing the images I see in my head when I view the favourites I have chosen. I feel very brave in doing this because I don’t know any of you, nor you know me – so it’s safe (except I have a friend or two on here but they probably will see this as my latest fad ; > ).

Origami Passion
by Mui-Ling TehThe story of my developing passion for origami: ”!http://images-2.redbubble.com/img/art/size:large/view:main/1006170-1-i-hope-god-like…
The story of my developing passion for origami: Back in elementary school my teacher read to our class the story of “Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes”. While Sadako Sasaki was in the hospital, friends and family saved scraps of paper for her to fold paper cranes out of. In one particular moment of the story, Sadako’s mother paid a visit and gave Sadako a piece of paper which her sister saved for her. Sadako takes the paper and says “Mmmm, smells like candy. I hope God likes chocolate”. Everyone laughed including Sadako. After being read that story I went through an origami obsession; I saved bits of paper and candy wrappers, then did origami out of them. Candy wrappers were often rectangular, so I’d cut the biggest square I could out of them and fold candy wrapper cranes. Afterwards I’d make smaller cranes from the left over bits of the candy wrappers, and then attempt to make even smaller cranes from the leftovers of the leftover. As time passed I have enjoyed folding more origami apart from cranes; including flowers, animals ornaments etc. I have recently come back to my childhood passion of folding tiny cranes and attempted to fold the smallest cranes I possibly could, and have started doing other forms of miniature origami. As I hold my creation, I feel like a God; I am the creator; I’ve created a life form so sharp and vulnerable in comparison to my hand. We can only understand size, fragility and significance when we compare two things. When we think, for example, how big the world is, we’re like tiny specks of sand, or even atoms, to the eyes of a God holding the earth in his palm. /

Yesterday was an exceptional day and I just want to share it with you by way of thanking the people/groups/hosts responsible for the stunned look which changed as a silly grin spread across my face. / I came onto RB only to find, to my shock and amazement, largely from congratulations I’d received on a couple of my works, that I had suddenly had 4 FEATURED WORKS AND HAD BECOME A FEATURED MEMBER ACROSS THREE GROUPS!!! I literally could not believe it…It seemed that each time I opened a bubblemail or a comment on one of my works, another piece of the puzzle was revealed. And to top it all off, it is the first time a piece of my writing has been featured!! / Indeed, three pieces: / Eerie Afternoon a written piece to accompany the photo, also featured, / eerie afternoon and finally, a piece of writing entitled The Ghosts of Gilderoy inspired by a photo by Di Jenkins, all featured in a new group, Exceptional Ekphrasis On top of that, this group and its wonderful hosts chose to feature me as a member!!!:O Then, just as I was beginning to breathe again, I found my photo, purple fusion was featured in Extreme Close-Ups ! Sorry about the multitude of links but I can’t get the thing where you put in actual pics to work… Anyway, this is a HUGE THANK YOU TO THE HOSTS OF BOTH EXCEPTIONAL EKPHRASIS AND EXTREME CLOSE-UPS FOR CHOOSING TO FEATURE THESE WORKS AND ME!!!!!!! / I AM SO SORRY…I NEARLY FORGOT THE SPRING BLOOMS GROUP!!!!!! THANK YOU TO THE HOSTS AND MEMBERS FOR THE RECENT CHALLENGE IN WHICH MY WORK ENIGMA WAS A TOP TEN FINISH. Jan…..xxx : )))))))))) Oh yes, and thanks to all of you for commenting, supporting and encouraging etc…etc…. xxxxxxxxOOOxxxxxxxxxxx

I’ve decided to learn from successful rebubblers out there and be more proactive :p (I love browsing, lazy to write), and decided to pimp up my profile page a little with some of the ‘HOT’ sellers…ehem… just to give everyone an idea of what sells from my collection. I haven’t sold any cards on ‘Bloom’ and ‘Companion’ yet, but I added them in anyway…..just to add some variety :D Who knows, maybe I’ll get lucky. hehehehe……

Thank you for purchasing bulk copies of Raindrops and In Bloom. I greatly appreciate it. The individual that purchased these cards said she has a list of people she needs to reach out and touch. I am thrilled to death she wanted to use my cards to send to the special people in her life. As I have heard, the quality of RB cards is exceptional. I’m sure she will not be disappointed. Thank you very much G.T. of Oregon / F. Magdalene
