“These tiny blooms are little more than fragile packages of pollen ready for the picking. Each of the flowers is less than a quarter of an inch in diameter.”
Somethings eating these and it’s not me.
Pretty bloom from the bush by our driveway.
Beautiful red gerbera on isolated yellow background.
A species orchid, papillio, vibrant yellow, carmel markings and orangey-red accents. This wonderful orchid is a sequential bloomer ~ when one flower is ready to drop, another bud or flower grows a bit further up the stalk. Orchid growers swear you can keep one of these blooming for years ~ “indefinitely.” This one grew from a teensy little square inch pot and I managed to keep it blooming for almost two years. At the time this photo was taken, the stalk was close to four feet long.

Taken at Havant Thicket on Sunday, it was a warm sunny day and I just love seeing the buds burst open spilling their pollen for the hungry insects and buutterflies. I remember reading somewhere that the best place to find insects and butterflies in the spring time is to go and stand by a tree full of burst buds heavy with pollen. I found a tree and stood and watched as it was visited by 3 or 4 different butterflies, hoverflies and bees etc.
