  • Fire Pink, Silene virginica , sometimes called Catch Fly and the name Catch Fly refers to the fact that insects often stick to the foliage. This may prevent undesirable insects from interfering with pollination by more suitable insects. There is some evidence that American Indians used roots of Fire Pink to get rid of intestinal worms. !!

  • THE FLOWERS ARE AT BLOOM IN THE SKAGIT VALLEY AND PUYALLUP VALLEY, WITH PLENTY OF TULIPS AND DAFFIDILS.

  • I love this photograph. It’s one of my favourites and one of my sister’s favourites, too. These beautiful, tiny, fragile flowers are found at Winskill Park in my hometown. At first, the large container just looked like a sea of soft blue and green from a distance. Enough to get my attention, yes, but it was all even more lovely up close. The intricate details of God’s creation always amaze me. Photo taken in Delta, British Columbia (Canada) with a Canon PowerShot A1000 IS camera. • The first blossom on one of my mothers Rose Of Sharon trees. Taken in Southeastern Washington USA / Sony CyberShot HD1080 / Slight Editing in Picasa3

  • Another beautiful facade in the South End of Boston in early summer 2009. These roses were in full bloom as they climbed up the brick of this brownstone and I couldn’t help but stop and take some photos. It really feels like London or Paris and the geometric details of the building are complimented by the wandering vines.

  • Read in my blog about holgaroids and download free photoshop holgaroid actions Astronomically, the vernal equinox (usually March 20 in the Northern Hemisphere, and September 22 in the Southern Hemisphere), should be the middle of spring, and the summer solstice (usually June 21 in the Northern Hemisphere and December 21 in the Southern Hemisphere) should be mid-summer, but daytime temperatures lag behind insolation by several weeks because the earth and sea have thermal latency and take time to warm up. Some cultures call the spring equinox mid-spring, but others regard it as the “first day of spring”. For most temperate regions, signs of spring appear long before the middle of March, but the folklore of March 21 being the “first day of spring” persists, though June 21 as the “first day of summer” is common only in the USA. According to the Celtic tradition, which is based solely on daylight and the strength of the noon sun, spring begins in early February (near Imbolc or Candlemas) and continues until early May (Beltane). The phenological definition of spring relates to indicators, the blossoming of a range of plant species, and the activities of animals, or the special smell of soil that has reached the temperature for micro flora to flourish. The first swallow to arrive or the flowering of lilac may be the indicator of spring. It therefore varies according to the climate and according to the specific weather of a particular year. Straight from the camera. / Thistle is the common name of a group of flowering plants characterised by leaves with sharp prickles on the margins, mostly in the family Asteraceae. Prickles often occur all over the plant – on surfaces such as those of the stem and flat parts of the leaves. These are an adaptation that protects the plant against herbivorous animals, discouraging them from feeding on the plant. Typically, an involucre with a clasping shape of a cup or urn subtends each of a thistle’s flowerheads. (Wikipedia) / /
