Taken this afternoon at the office just before closing time…...The lighting was magical; not quite dark yet. / These are actually Christmas Cactus blossoms, taken in the evening light and I am delighted with the outcome, though it is on the dark side, I decided to leave it as is…..it seems to add to the rich color. Another experiment with metallic blue paper as a background and the flash on my camera… haha, I guess it worked well. I never use my flash, so that’s why this is so experimental, hehe. It’s also the stamen of a hibiscus.
So…I went out for some fresh air just a short time ago in between downpours and this is what I found…........maybe just one more Rose…......this opens into my lovely orange rose….....enjoy! My favorite cattleya is in bloom and has 6 flower buds this years. As they open the plants gets even more impressive. Not only is this orchid an orgy of color…but it smells nice also. It blooms for me ever year without missing a beat. Nikon D200, Nikkor 105mm

Trying new things… I do love these flowers and it seems lately I have a thing for polka dots, thought I might trying combining the two. Also, I wanted to try using a slow shutter speed to increase the dof in my macro photography – this was a 5 second exposure.
