I am really sick of winter, however today I was in my yard and spotted a few blossoms opening up on the tree by the side of the road. I couldn’t help my self but take some photos and dream of spring….. The back ground is just the sky.. I actually have 2 more images that I also like so I might put them up and see how they go :o)

Where do I begin with this piece? I have a lovely sweet pea vine that comes up along the back of my house every summer. The blooms are so pretty and the raindrops so exquisite on the pink petals and tendrils. It’s my favorite spot to obtain raindrop macros. After several photo shoots with this vine over the summer I tried to get a little more creative and put more of ‘myself’ into the image – literally! On the very top of the stem where you see a fine loop covered in waterdrops – that is actually a piece of my hair. Yes, I subjected myself to a moment of pain for this (smiles). / / Other than minor tone adjustments, and a slight saturation tweak, on the sweet pea stem itself – that part of the original image was left alone. I did so much to the background I wouldn’t even know where to begin. I don’t think there was a filter or distort tool I didn’t try until I finally achieved the look I wanted! I envisioned a pastel background with a marble look and am quite pleased with how it turned out. Raindrop Gallery / ADD RENEE TO YOUR WATCHLIST /

Two buds waiting for their turn to dazzle in the spring sunshine. / Remember tho this is scotland… I brought this houseplant into a (so far this year unused) ‘summerhouse’ during a sunny interval , but my model and I had to soon dash for cover to avoid frost damage…. :)) See also moment in the sun I found it hard to choose between these 2 images so have posted both . ... any tips or comments most welcome….(a nice change from mouldy apple macros at least i hope!) Untouched apart from cropping / / :) / /

This is what the rhododendron looks like in full bloom. native to the great smoky mountains, millions in this area. it starts to bloom in the 2nd week of june, but it’s at it’s peak the later part of june. / before it starts to bloom its full of tight buds, resembling a avacado, then it each one starts to open, and this is the result / best time to shoot this flower is in low lighting. any other time of day you will pretty much end up with blown/washed out flowers about 100% of the time. / my other shot of the buds is here come the rhodies / if you want an idea of what it looks like before it blooms completely

My husband’s paternal grandmother, Tootsie, died at the age of 95. She had a sound mind and sound body and an enduring love for gardening, something she cultivated till she breathed her last. Before she died, she gave her grandchildren amaryllis bulbs and to this day, many many years after her passing on, we still have the fruits of her labors. This is one of Tootsie’s amaryllis bulbs that is about to burst into bloom, many springs after her death.

Flower buds that I thought looked cool found beside a little creek in Smyrna, Georgia / Canna (or Canna lily, although not a true lily) is a genus of approximately twenty species of flowering plants.1 The closest living relations to cannas are the other plant families of the order Zingiberales, that is the gingers, bananas, marantas, heliconias, strelitzias, etc.[3] Canna is the only genus in the family Cannaceae. Such a family has almost universally been recognized by taxonomists. The APG II system of 2003 (unchanged from the APG system, 1998) also recognizes the family, and assigns it to the order Zingiberales in the clade commelinids, in the monocots. The species have large, attractive foliage and horticulturists have turned it into a large-flowered, brash, bright and sometimes gaudy, garden plant. In addition, it is one of the world’s richest starch sources, and is an agricultural plant.[3] Although a plant of the tropics, most cultivars have been developed in temperate climates and are easy to grow in most countries of the world as long as they can enjoy about 6 hours average sunlight during the summer. See the Canna cultivar gallery for photographs of Canna cultivars. The name Canna originates from the Celtic word for a cane or reed.4

My mom has wanted lilacs in the yard for years and finally got them a couple years ago, each year we watch them bud out and bloom waiting for their fragrance to waft in through the windows. Besides a babies neck I’d have to say lilacs are the best scent this side of heaven!!
