  • Blood Rose
    by Jeremy Harrington

    US$3.70–US$98.80

I took this photo in my front yard of a slightly withered red rose. The colour of the rose was so saturated that it caught my eye. I then played around with the contrast, exposure, and brightness to end up with this, I hope you like it.

  • Id
    by Shawn Coss

    US$3.42–US$91.20

As a once psychology major, I was intrigued by Freud’s theory on the id and ego of the human psyche. It has been many years since those classes so my words may be somewhat off. But this piece is a self representation (aren’t they all?) of myself and how the “id” and “ego” play in our life decisions. We all seek pleasure and that constant feeling of euphoria, and our “id”’s only goal is to achieve those feelings without worry or care about the consequences of such actions. It is our “ego” that keeps the “id” in line, allowing us to think before we act, and to be able to foresee what may come of this pleasure seeking. It is a constant battle that wages on beneath our skin and sometimes the “id” overcomes. Some choose to live only by the “id”s bidding and never realize the destruction they leave behind when seeking their pleasures. I have been through that lifestyle once, and as much as I enjoyed such pleasures in bountiful amounts….the aftershock of those actions can still be felt today.

  • Code Zebra
    by Per Ove Sleen

    US$5.13–US$136.80

This motive has been on the bubble as a T-shirt for a while, and I’ve had a few requests for posters so here we are. / I don’t know why I didn’t do this from the beginning, but anyway better late than never I guess. It has been my best selling tee ever so far, and it is one of the vector pictures I am the most proud of. / The concept of this design was an idea I had bumping around in my head for a very long time before I jumped in to it and first put it to paper. / It was tossed around for a while together with thousands of ideas and idea snippets, collected throughout my life. / Ideas I take care of in notepads and on paper scraps of different origin and quality that I stuff in to boxes of different orig….a.s.f. Then one day (triggered by a vid I saw on the youtube. It was about how animals in African wild parks are exploited for cash) I had the idea with the blood and that was it…I went straight for the computer and scanned my sketches of the zebra/barcode ideas. Then I brought it all together in Adobe Illustrator for execution (My absolute favourite vector app.). I let the design sit on my computer screen for a couple of days as I did tiny little corrections now and then. / Afterwards I hid it for a few weeks, and then I published it after a few more minor enhancements…..and voila! POS /

  • Pheromones of Grace
    by lianne

Where do we find our kinship? / In what genetic commonality – / in blood, in bone / in surname or proximity?

A few weeks ago, a most dear and valued friend, Jen Whyte, sent me a thought provoking and moving essay on decontaminating our personal “energy fields” and the environment around us by radiating positive rather than negative energy. The article went on to describe this invisible energy as emissions of minute particles called pheromones. We’ve all heard of pheromones in reference to sexual desire, of course, and we probably all have encountered individuals who strongly radiate such pheromones with seemingly no consciousness of their effect. But the author of this essay, Dr. Wayne Dyer, discussed the many other kinds of pheromones with which we can either contaminate our own personal environment and that of others around us, pheromones such as fear or envy, bitterness or resentment, or heal and renew that environment with pheromones of “love, kindness, surrender, peace, connectedness, forgiveness, cheerfulness and gratitude.” That concept has remained clearly in my mind for many weeks now; it has in fact, been instrumental in helping me through a difficult time. But it has also reminded me of the incredible grace I experience in your presence – all of you who have come to mean so very much to me – and in particular the absolute peace and love I have received and return in equal measure to someone who has become the sister I never had – and you know who you are – and the brother who is closer to me than my own – and you know who you are as well. This is for you. [The title of this poem is a phrase from an essay by Dr. Wayne Dyer, entitled, “There’s a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem.”]

  • If you want it, it’s yours… / Sometimes actions speak louder than words. (Really, I just wanted to draw something dark and a touch gory)

  • How many sales of this design – 1 sale so far :) / Pelican Love is from the ‘Beach Series’ and ‘Friends Series’ of original paintings by Karin Taylor. / It was created using ink and pastel on pastel paper. There is a beautiful story about the love that pelicans have for their babies, I thought I’d share it with you Reference taken from the Wikepedia Encyclopedia (please forgive the length of this, but it is SO interesting, thought I may as well share the whole thing !) In medieval Europe, the pelican was thought to be particularly attentive to her young, to the point of providing her own blood when no other food was available. As a result, the pelican became a symbol of the Passion of Jesus and of the Eucharist. It also became a symbol in bestiaries for self-sacrifice, and was used in heraldry (“a pelican in her piety” or “a pelican vulning (wounding) herself”). Another version of this is that the pelican used to kill its young and then resurrect them with its blood, this being analogous to the sacrifice of Jesus. Thus the symbol of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) is a pelican, and for most of its existence the headquarters of the service was located at Pelican House in Dublin, Ireland. For example, the emblems of both Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and Corpus Christi College, Oxford are pelicans, showing its use as a medieval Christian symbol (‘Corpus Christi’ means ‘body of Christ’). Likewise a folktale from India says that a pelican killed her young by rough treatment but was then so contrite that she resurrected them with her own blood.[1] These legends may have arisen because the pelican used to suffer from a disease that left a red mark on its chest[citation needed]. Alternatively it may be that pelicans look as if they are stabbing themselves as they often press their bill into their chest to fully empty their pouch. Yet other possibilities are that they often rest their bills on their breasts, and that the Dalmatian Pelican has a blood-red pouch in the early breeding season.[1]

  • Well it is, some might take that a little bit too literally. :-)
