This was my 2nd digital painting. I painted this in Photoshop Elements – from a blank file. :) It took several hours (about 16 I think)- about 5 hrs just on the eyes! :D

Model – Meluxine The height of winter, she’s laying on wet frozen ground, in a vintage dress and my ugg boots, full to the brim with Hungry Jacks, watching me dance like a crazy person with a head cold around her when suddenly the sun breaks through right at the perfect moment, and she manages to pull of that look like it’s as easy as microwave popcorn. / This girl rocks. Self portrait emotive in nature.The storm series inception began just as its title. Spontaneous and unpredictable. This storm born for purging emotions. Acting out the rage, the fears,the hurt ,the calm. It came and went quickly in about an hour.The artist did not realize at the time of creation that she was acting out the flood of her hometown that claimed the lives of many including a close childhood friend Kathy. Kathy was running from an explosion caused by a broken gas line when she was sucked into a crack in the street. In this shot Velia became what she was running from.

I love doing portraitures. This was my first time I did an oil painting and I thought it came out well. It took me 2 weeks to do this as I had to allow for drying time. / I normally do pencil, acrylic and pastel portraitures, but felt that the oils were very satisfying as it allows for retouching and revisiting the subject Oils on Canvas

why is it that the media, models, and celebrities insist on this unrealistic image? Have they not noticed that most woman arent comfortable with themselves because they dont suit the model image. I have learned to accept that i cant change my body, and i’m unique the way i am. I shouldnt have to worry what people say i should look and be like, just for them to like me.
