    Douc Langur—-Extremely Rare

  • watercolor on watercolor board. Bless the fire through which we walk. Trial by fire is when we face the most difficult challenges in our lives. We rarely seek it, but all eventually walk this ordeal. There are individuals and societies whose lives are one long challenge and they endure the unendurable, release occurring only through death. For others it occurs in a less drastic form, and a phase of peace follows in which to rest and replenish prana. No matter how torturous the challenge becomes, eventually the flames will subside. In one way or another, like the great cycles of the seasons, tides, cycles of the moon and stars, change must and will occur. The great wheel never ceases to spin. So when the flames and heat of this phase in life have dissipated, reach gingerly into the still warm cinders, representing what remains of the old life, and gently close the hand around what has been found, take it to a safe place. Blow off the fine ash and examine what has been salvaged after the inferno. Whats found depends upon the individual. I don’t know if the manner of perceiving a situation is something we are born with, or a choice we make at some stage along the way. I do know that in any culture, two people with similar lives, even siblings, can experience the same challenge and come away with radically opposed impressions. After a crisis has passed and life stabilized, I’ve sometimes dusted away the ash, and brooding over the past, seen nothing but cinders and chips of blackened bone in my palm. As time passed, however, and pondering the charred bone, I came to realize that what I held was precious. The intense heat of the fire burned off the dross of my inner self, no polluting base metals remained to dull its glimmer. Forgiveness and acceptance of what is had occurred on a deep level, almost on their own it seemed. In this painting I’m attempting to portray that moment of realization, that walking through fire was also a form of purifying radiance. The flames have tempered and fine tuned the spirit, causing it to resonate in mellow tones, and from the ashes emerges a winged spirit of pure gold. The human spirit is resilient, we are far stronger than we imagine. All forms arise then fall back into the void from which they came, nothing lasts forever. Trust the process and open the inner eye. Move into the moment, into the Now, for we are already whole. The person in the image is rising from ashes of the past and unfurling her wings, lifting her head and preparing to stretch her neck and back. She is radiant and illuminates the night with her power. She knows the source of her strength is within herself and all sentient beings, nobody and nothing can take it away. The circle represents wholeness, completion, balance, the feminine, moon and sun. • Natural Splendors I
    by Mundy Hackett

    US$3.28–US$65.55

This is obviously not an original idea, and I want to thank both ECGardner and Angelique Brunas for their works along these lines that motivated me to explore my own creativity. I hope they do not mind my using their work as a basis for my inspiration, and I am still working to achieve the balance, beauty, and artistry they have exhibited through their respective nature based collages! I will give folks a while to guess what the various panes are comprised of, they should be pretty easy to figure out, later I will insert the proper descriptions of their contents. As always I can not say often enough how wonderful the Redbubble community is and how happy I am to have found it during it’s infancy so that I may grow along with it into a more complete and accomplished artist! / / / / Portfolio Areas / / Tigers / Wildlife / Macro / Landscape / Birds / Abstracts / Cats~wild and domestic

  • Solitude
    by TerriRiver

    US$31.35–US$167.20

The bridge reminds me of an emotion of solitude, which is not to be confused with loneliness. The former leads to an internal peace and being one with nature and oneself while the latter was a feeling of being forced to be alone, deprived of freedom and choice. I used to call this photo “Peaceful Bridge” until a young patient of mine (at the time she was nine years old) explored the difference between solitude and loneliness. When the image was presented to him as an illustration, he exclaimed, “Oh, solitude is peace, inner peace!” And the true title of the piece was born. • 'Prayer' - Oil Painting
    by Avril Brand

    US$3.85–US$102.60

Oils on canvas (12×16 inches) What a delight to paint this beautiful child! I love painting so much and this little girl with her sweet and innocent beauty captured everything I would wish for children all over the world. I don’t know who she really is but I named her ‘Sarah’. So, for my little ‘Sarah’ and all the little ‘Sarahs’ all over the world: An Irish Prayer May God give you… / For every storm, a rainbow, / For every tear, a smile, / For every care, a promise, / And a blessing in each trial. / For every problem life sends, / A faithful friend to share, / For every sigh, a sweet song, / And an answer for each prayer. My thanks to Anna on SXU for her permission to use her photograph as reference for this painting. I put the candle in the painting because I wanted the soft light on the little girls face, glowing and warm.

  • This calender consists of a series of ongoing portraits created through the process of stepping out of my own way and allowing collected imagery symbols mixed media and intuition to BECOME! Once upon a time…... I planned my art by doing a sketch or having an idea….at least a place to start. And once upon a time I realized there was more that needed expressing than my underused brain could imagine….and I have a GOOD imagination. This intuitive way of working was a necessary step in my own evolution as artist and being….to relinquish control….to learn to listen to my inner guide or higher self. I came to find during this exercise that ‘what I was asked to put on canvas’ seemed to make no sense at all …...just strange little pieces from nowhere…or so I thought yet as I was living my life I realized that it made no sense either. I concluded that this no sense or nonsense I was creating through my judgment actually reflects the innate sense we come from and all have,,,,THE BIG SENSE….....a sense beyond …....and so I trust this way of working more than I trust my way of working! LOL Enjoy IN JOY in whatever sense you can.

  • The doe took a little time off from busy eating for the photo opportunity, although she didn’t want to give up the tasty colorful leaf. By now everyone who has ever seen my work knows that I’m absolutely “addicted” to develop a deep relationship and establish an intimate communication with mule deer (we don’t have a lot of white-tailed deer around here). Everyday I go out there in the early mornings, hoping to have a close encounter! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Nature Canada

  • Golden Morn II
    by Gary L. Suddath

    US$4.56–US$121.60

Early Appalachian life must have been filled with golden mornings. Wonder how often they would pause from their chores, and just drink in the glorious light filtering through the fog. Stopped and gave thanks to God for his blessings and felt at awe with his creation. Wonder how often they knew they had found their pot of gold. Not in a monetary sense, but in the riches of life. They struggled from day to day but how often did they rejoice at what they were blessed with. The coolness of the mist upon their face. The warmth of the sun as it forged its way through the fog. The sounds of nature as she too is awakening to greet the morn. Wonder how rich they may have felt seeing the warm glow softly lighting the fruits of their labor. You too can feel this. You too can feel awakened and renewed with the dawn, if only willing to experience it. Visit and help preserve that which we are blessed with.……Image taken at the Mountain Farm Museum, GSMNP

  • Buddha's Blessing
    by Keegan Wong

    US$3.42–US$91.20

The Tian Tan Buddha appears serene and dignified. His right hand is raised, representing the removal of affliction. His left hand rests on his lap in a gesture of giving (dhana). The Buddha faces north which is unique among the great Buddha statues. (All others face South.) I’m not a very religious person, but I need to know where my religious background stands in my family. This place was definitely the eye opener. How do they even carry all the 250 tonne bronze to make a 34 metre high statue up there?! A remarkable achievement. MORE WORKS FROM MY PORTFOLIO / - – - / Shot specifications: / Camera body – Canon EOS 350D / Lens – Sigma 10-20mm HSM DC / Shutter speed – 1/100 / ISO – 100 / Focal length – 10 / f-stop – f/10 Wow alot of 10s.

  • The Last Time
    by Alexia Wardell

    US$3.42–US$91.20

When was the last time a moment was taken to sit down and admire the beauty around you? To soak in the setting sun, to listen to a child laugh, or allow a quiet breeze to kiss your cheek. When was the last you counted your blessings, and felt rich just because you were alive? When was the last time you really noticed the beauty around you, and knew that it was created by a loving Father in Heaven just for you. If this were your last day on earth, could you really say that you had lived and appreciated all life has to offer? When was the last time….. Picture taken at Moss Landing California
