  • watercolor on watercolor board. Bless the fire through which we walk. Trial by fire is when we face the most difficult challenges in our lives. We rarely seek it, but all eventually walk this ordeal. There are individuals and societies whose lives are one long challenge and they endure the unendurable, release occurring only through death. For others it occurs in a less drastic form, and a phase of peace follows in which to rest and replenish prana. No matter how torturous the challenge becomes, eventually the flames will subside. In one way or another, like the great cycles of the seasons, tides, cycles of the moon and stars, change must and will occur. The great wheel never ceases to spin. So when the flames and heat of this phase in life have dissipated, reach gingerly into the still warm cinders, representing what remains of the old life, and gently close the hand around what has been found, take it to a safe place. Blow off the fine ash and examine what has been salvaged after the inferno. Whats found depends upon the individual. I don’t know if the manner of perceiving a situation is something we are born with, or a choice we make at some stage along the way. I do know that in any culture, two people with similar lives, even siblings, can experience the same challenge and come away with radically opposed impressions. After a crisis has passed and life stabilized, I’ve sometimes dusted away the ash, and brooding over the past, seen nothing but cinders and chips of blackened bone in my palm. As time passed, however, and pondering the charred bone, I came to realize that what I held was precious. The intense heat of the fire burned off the dross of my inner self, no polluting base metals remained to dull its glimmer. Forgiveness and acceptance of what is had occurred on a deep level, almost on their own it seemed. In this painting I’m attempting to portray that moment of realization, that walking through fire was also a form of purifying radiance. The flames have tempered and fine tuned the spirit, causing it to resonate in mellow tones, and from the ashes emerges a winged spirit of pure gold. The human spirit is resilient, we are far stronger than we imagine. All forms arise then fall back into the void from which they came, nothing lasts forever. Trust the process and open the inner eye. Move into the moment, into the Now, for we are already whole. The person in the image is rising from ashes of the past and unfurling her wings, lifting her head and preparing to stretch her neck and back. She is radiant and illuminates the night with her power. She knows the source of her strength is within herself and all sentient beings, nobody and nothing can take it away. The circle represents wholeness, completion, balance, the feminine, moon and sun. • BEST VIEWING LARGER I had great fun wandering this magical area , the home to hundreds of bird species that have made home to this oasis, add to that the wonderful sunsets over the Murray and to get one like this you do feel Blessed ! “Wonga” is Wiradjuri for Black Cormorant, still one of the most abundant bird species in this area. The Wonga Wetlands was named to give recognition to the local flora and fauna, and the important relationship the Aboriginal people had with this environment. *Restoring Natural Flow * / / A unique environmental development has taken shape downstream from Albury, along the floodplain of the Murray River – the Wonga Wetlands. The water that is bringing new life to this beautiful country is not directly from the river – it’s from the AlburyCity’s wastewater treatment systems. During the warmer months the reclaimed treated wastewater is used for irrigation, while in wetter months it is redirected to the wetlands, helping to restore the natural flow regime. Since the construction of the Hume Dam in 1919, the Murray River has been regulated for irrigation and does not flood as often. When flooding occurs, it is now often in the late Spring or Summer and is of a lower intensity. This alteration to the natural flow has dried out many of the floodplain wetlands and billabongs, destroying the bird and fish breeding habitat. The Wonga Wetlands development is an opportunity to revert to the original hydrological regime, with birds and other wildlife now returning to the wetlands For more information on Wonga Wetlands“ / / Equipment: Nikon D300, Sigma 10-20mm lens, Manfrotto Tripod, Luck / Technique:HDR, 5 Braketted Exposures, Photomatix Pro, Tidy up in Capture NX

  • Natural Splendors I
    by Mundy Hackett

This is obviously not an original idea, and I want to thank both ECGardner and Angelique Brunas for their works along these lines that motivated me to explore my own creativity. I hope they do not mind my using their work as a basis for my inspiration, and I am still working to achieve the balance, beauty, and artistry they have exhibited through their respective nature based collages! I will give folks a while to guess what the various panes are comprised of, they should be pretty easy to figure out, later I will insert the proper descriptions of their contents. As always I can not say often enough how wonderful the Redbubble community is and how happy I am to have found it during it’s infancy so that I may grow along with it into a more complete and accomplished artist! / / / / Portfolio Areas / / Tigers / Wildlife / Macro / Landscape / Birds / Abstracts / Cats~wild and domestic

  • 'Prayer' - Oil Painting
    by Avril Brand

    US$4.48–US$102.60

Oils on canvas (12×16 inches) What a delight to paint this beautiful child! I love painting so much and this little girl with her sweet and innocent beauty captured everything I would wish for children all over the world. I don’t know who she really is but I named her ‘Sarah’. So, for my little ‘Sarah’ and all the little ‘Sarahs’ all over the world: An Irish Prayer May God give you… / For every storm, a rainbow, / For every tear, a smile, / For every care, a promise, / And a blessing in each trial. / For every problem life sends, / A faithful friend to share, / For every sigh, a sweet song, / And an answer for each prayer. My thanks to Anna on SXU for her permission to use her photograph as reference for this painting. I put the candle in the painting because I wanted the soft light on the little girls face, glowing and warm.

Bless the Broken Road I set out on a narrow way, many years ago / Hoping I would find true love along the broken road / But I got lost a time or two / Wiped my brow and kept pushing through / I couldn’t see how every sign pointed straight to you Every long lost dream led me to where you are / Others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars / Pointing me on my way into your loving arms / This much I know is true That God blessed the broken road / That led me straight to you / Yes He did I think about the years I spent, just passing through / I’d like to have the time I lost, and give it back to you / But you just smile and take my hand / You’ve been there, you understand / It’s all part of a grander plan that is coming true Every long lost dream led me to where you are / Others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars / Pointing me on my way into your loving arms / This much I know is true That God blessed the broken road / That led me straight to you But now I’m just rolling home into my lover’s arms / This much I know is true That God blessed the broken road / That led me straight to you That God blessed the broken road / That led me straight to you Rascall Flats

  • © C J Lewis. Digital art created using PhotoPlus6 for air-brushing, painting, colouring & sizing. I use the mouse with the smudge tool to move the colours around and into the shapes desired as I don’t have a Wacom tablet. Photograph of the tree & area used as the inspiration for the subject matter. BEST VIEWED LARGE Part of the Nature Characters Series In my local park there is an amazing tree with red branches and small red berries that fall off it and spread on the ground around it … the most amazing red coloured tree I have ever seen anywhere in my life … so I asked God to bless that tree for its beauty and as it brought such brightness via the wonderful colour to the park & surrounding area. I painted this with the air-brush and painting tools on my computer using the photograph below that I took of it as the reference…with some artistic license. • Good Red Road
    by tkrosevear

    US$3.99–US$91.20

As I finished this work this morning, I was soon reminded that my path must be sacred and true, as I witnessed 4 Bald Eagles and 2 Golden Eagles sitting along the river treeline, never since we’ve been here have I seen a grouping like this together. My body was tingling from head to toe and I got so caught up in the beauty, I could only take a few photographs (which I’ll share soon). / In Northern America, the Eagle was considered great medicine power. To the Native Americans there were different kinds and divisions of Eagles. The Golden Eagle had a very high rank. The most potent and magical was the Sky Eagle which the Iroquois called Shadahgeyah. Among the Hopi, the Eagle god was called Kwahu and according to their legends, this great bird seldom came below the clouds; only the holiest of Shamans ever saw it. Even the Aztecs said this bird represented celestial power and the rising Sun. / As a Solar Eclipse approaches with the Chinese New Year on 1/26/09, the thought behind this Mandala becomes more clear…”We Are ALL One Tribe” Rainbow Hoop Created with Wacom Graphic pad/pen and enhanced with Redfield plug-in fractilius filter and photoshop7
