watercolour, 2005 I use windsor and newton watercolour paints on partly wet 300gr weight acid free fabriano watercolour paper with big brushes. From start to finish is one mad rush! I love the freedom and accidental nature of watercolour and the fact that I can’t think while I am doing it, I have no real control. Sometimes they don’t work and then sometimes it all just falls together and I am just as surprised as everyone else!
Named after my sister Rosana, the original designer of this almost calligraphic, elegant, round swirl of sharp lines, curves and leaves. And yes, there ARE letters “hidden” in it! :)
Worn Sand Piper is an extension from the original series of 9 Animal Designs that were created on 4” x 4” canvas blocks at end of 2007. Rather than using the selected blue, pink or yellow I’ve chosen a more muted tone with grey and black in acrylics and inks on a distressed photo that I had taken and printed on a piece of sketch pad paper. The animal design series represents what we could be left with if we don’t take care of nature and all it’s creatures. With their charming toy like appearance, they could just end up like childhood memories.

I took this in Northern Cyprus. Is was in a dusty old city, yet in the middle there was this beautiful Blossom tree. Again I have filtered with watercolour, as I like the depth it adds to the shot.
I was really close to this little house finch, but he didn’t budge as I snapped his photo. Either he was very friendly or he was very hungry and didn’t want to leave the feeder in spite of my intrusion. View larger to see his lovely details.

I was so happy with my poppies that I decided to make a set of 2 with some daisies. Here is what I did in Photoshop. / Photo was taken with flowers in Oasis block with an esky as the background, An esky I hear you say, well this is Australia!! Would have used the sky, but this is also Melbourne and while blue skys reigned yesterday, today is very dull and not good for white daisies. Selected Background – which was plain blue / Lighten over all. / Graded to make base lighter Used the Orton Effect steps to create the hazy look. / Added a grass and a dirt photo (the later has some small stones for added texture) these were added at about 6% opacity. Flatten the image / Applied Water colour feature with no shadow intensity…. the Beauty of the Orton effect is that when the Watercolour filter is applied it makes the lines around the image, adding to the hand painting/inked look. Oh there was also some exposure and colour mods to add a touch of colour to the very white daisies, both of these I played with to add some depth to the subject. : Now also in my Calendar: / :
Original photo taken in Provence last month. / Edited in Photoshop overlays of Fractalius first with a black outline then with a white outline, both at a reduced % given this final result.
today, I was hoping for inspiration to come to make a creative work. I had nothing in mind and after an hour, all I tried ended up in the garbage can! / I decided to browse through my stock folders. When I say this origami boat and the orange slice, the idea of a surrealistic sun came to my mind… and this is the result. / . / features Feel, don’t copy (Nov. 12th, 2009) Outside the box (20th Nov. 2009) Imaginative realism (Nov. 2009) / . / stock > mine and brokenarts.sxc.hu | / / views: 124 (Dec 8th 2009) / - / / . / a print version with orange designed and textured borders is also available on my main account Aimelle on RedBubble / / . / / .
... only available as a card / . I do not understand the logic or mathematic aspect of fractals. I simply work intuitively and slowly with all the values, and am happy when I am close enough -and sometimes right on ;) – to the shape I want to obtain. / I like to create realistic shapes, at least trying to ! lol done with all parts done in Sinedots and Paint Shop Pro was used additionally on the flower (petals part) / . /
