  • “Maize, a basic staple. Yet, glorious Indian Corn colours grace autumnal days. Each grain weaves a pattern in a tapestry meticulously designed. Piled upon each other on a farm stand, the rich colours of the corn ears make a delightful array of surprising beauty. / / I find inspiration in the simple elements of Nature by discovering, at a closer look, their elaborated forms, their patterns and intricacies, their sheer beauty. They teach me a lesson on survival, too. The colour in the Indian Corn grains is governed, each, by a different gene. The pigment may aid in the defense against diseases, hence, a wide array of colours in a single corn ear raises the chances of survival.” / / / Read more about Indian Corn in my written article: / / Indian Corn- Nature’s Kaleidoscope. / / / / Image © Carmen Mandel-Cesáreo / / / —-—-—-—-—-——- / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. “Maize, a basic staple. Yet, glorious Indian Corn colours grace autumnal days. Each corn ear wears distinctive colours and texture. Gold, copper, mauve, magenta, brown, black, pink, orange … myriad combinations bring to life the glorious colours of Indian Corn. / / Glistening like tiny jewels, each grain weaves a pattern in a tapestry meticulously designed. He carries his enthralling beauty nonchalantly, swaying his silky coppery mane with grace. / / While casting a lovely glance upon me, his gorgeous eyelashes outlined a pretty silhouette against the clear sky” / / / / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. • “Autumn brings along a radiant tapestry of harvest crops. Walking along the many farm stands, I indulge myself in the sheer presence of these simple, yet unbelievably beautiful vegetables and fruits. Amidst glorious pumpkins in the colours of rainbow, gorgeous strawberries and glossy gourds, the exquisite patterns and colours of Indian Corn stand out. / / Piled casually upon each other in baskets, the corn ears make a delightful array of vibrant beauty. Gleaming like tiny jewels, each corn grain bears a distinctive colour. Golden hues, brown turning into copper, mauve turning into magenta, chartreuse, pink mixed with orange, pure white and pitch black. Each grain weaves a pattern meticulously designed. / / I find inspiration in the simple elements of Nature by discovering, in a closer approach, their elaborated forms, their patterns and intricacies, their sheer beauty. They teach me a lesson on survival, too. The colour of each Indian Corn grain is goverened by genes. The pigment may aid in the defense against diseases, hence, a wide array of colours in a single corn ear raises the chances of survival. / / As myriad colours happen in a single corn ear, each one is unique in its design. Like a miraculous tapestry, Indian Corn humbly offers its beauty to my delight “ / / / / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. I never lure my animated subjects to come close to me: spontaneity is the key. / / This is an original uncropped image. / / / ======================================= / Read more about Indian Corn in my written article: / / Indian Corn- Nature’s Kaleidoscope. / /

  • Pretty Ewe
    by Carmen Mandel-Cesáreo

    US$14.96–US$79.80

“Quietly lying by her barn, this pretty ewe made me stop my bicycle ride to pay her a visit. In a placid cool afternoon, she greeted me with a sweet glance and a calm disposition. Her face was beautiful and her eyes melted my heart. Surrounding a sea of amber and golden hues, her long white eyelashes framed surprisingly bright eyes. / / Taking close-ups on her adorable face, a rainbow of colours and patterns unveiled: the iris wore fine lines defining a gradient of rich earth colours. Her eyes sparked like jewels. When I bade her good-bye, she quietly turned her head towards me in what I took as a kind invitation to visit her once again. “ / / / Image © Carmen Mandel-Cesáreo / / / —-—-—-—-— / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. • Urban Nest in O
    by Carmen Mandel-Cesáreo

    US$14.96–US$79.80

“Always glancing skywards wishing for the brief appearance of a bird, I started discovering nests built in unusual yet very convenient places from the bird’s point of view. / / “In a display of urban adaptation, these nests follow the shape of the element containing them, in most cases, huge billboard letters of the round and cosy type.” / / Image and text © Carmen Mandel-Cesáreo / / / —-—-—-—-— / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. • “In a beautiful and deserted beach, the seagulls and skuas gently glided in the cool afternoon. The shore wore many patterns: broken seashells, algae, smooth rocks and driftwood. My little child and I rode the wind and chased the surf, enjoying the quiet company of the large and pretty birds. / / One seagull landed and walked quickly on the damp sand leaving a delicate print. My child ran frolicking passing by … and left his footprints. I paused to contemplate. There was a trail before me, which my child and the seagull had built. / / I admired the message unveiling before my eyes: child and seagull treading together. Child and seagull build their paths on Earth together, parallel, in harmony, not clashing. / / Conviviality, compassion and sharing. This is our humble message etched on pristine sand” / / / Images, concept and art © Carmen Mandel-Cesáreo / / =========================================================== / All proceeds from the sales of this image will be donated to: / / Massachusetts Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program / / / —-—-—-—-———-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / Carmen, creator of Art for Conservation
