Parc des Chutes Dorwin (Rawdon, Quebec / Canada) ©2007 / - / SonyA100 / Shutter Speed: 5/10 second / F Number: F/36.0 / Focal Length: 70 mm / ISO Speed: 100 / tripod / early in the morning, first light a place I always enjoy going as if it was the first time… I promised myself to do a long exposure of those waterfalls as soon as I’d get my tripod. / Even though I didn’t used it a lot since then (2007) because I ‘need’ to touch and feel the camera to fully being part of the moment … I’ve been pleased with the picture that couldn’t been done without it ;-) Edit-> I’ll soon upload another long exposure of this same waterfalls, this time with the use of a Hoya ND400 filter - /

Poppies on Cap Blanc Nez, one hot late afternoon in France.
Mr Blanc and his brother Edward ran the family crime business together, but everyone knew it was Mr Blanc who was the brains behind it all. / Mr Blanc knew certain sections referred to Edward as “Deadwood” but never to their faces. / Edward had his own talents – he was considered a prodigy when he was younger – he just didn’t have the spirit to be a crime boss. When he needed to think Mr Blanc would retreat to his Gallery and admire his “Modern Masters” / Before he went missing Edward would play simple lullabies on his violin that were so beautiful and haunting they could almost make Mr Blanc weep. / He desperately missed that now. / . / . / . / works of art by: / Ange / CathieT / Lucan / Scott Robinson / sjem / Danny
The iconic South Tufa at Mono Lake, CA. On a five-day road-trip around California I made sure to swing past, as this was a spot I had wanted to shoot at for a while. I really couldn’t have asked for better lighting. The layered clouds made for a spectacular backdrop against the sky, and the shifting light meant that the view changed every few moments- you can see in this shot that the tufa in the centre of the shot are in light while off of to the right, the water and formations are in shadow. With a polarizer filter, the contrast in the sky and with the calcified features was so striking. While I can’t wait to go back someday for a shoot with my whole kit, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed myself that afternoon. May 2007.
But they will be back next summer.
This is the Mont-Blanc du Tacul seen from the Aiguille du Midi, in Chamonix, France, september 2008. I had just finished a climb on the arête des cosmiques (somewhat visible in the lower right corner) and the high winds and fresh snow led to this amazing lighting, for a perfect day in the mountains.
I’m experimenting with wintery low light. I hope you will enjoy this photo as much as I enjoyed the experience.
