A tendency, especially in thought or feeling, contrary to what seems the strongest Drifting on the cool blue feelings of emotion, relaxed, open, not anticipating the subtle pull of the undertow that sucks you in. A warm wave of passion envelopes you and you are lost forever in the power of love. A big thankyou to mystic moon for the words

A large, dry, barren region, usually having sandy or rocky soil and little or no vegetation. Water lost to evaporation and transpiration in a desert exceeds the amount of precipitation; most deserts average less than 25 cm (9.75 inches) of precipitation each year, concentrated in short local bursts. Deserts cover about one fifth of the Earth’s surface, with the principal warm deserts located mainly along the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, where warm, rising equatorial air masses that have already lost most of their moisture descend over the subtropical regions. Cool deserts are located at higher elevations in the temperate regions, often on the lee side of a barrier mountain range where the prevailing winds drop their moisture before crossing the range.

kinks / Have you heard about trouble throughout the land / With the fascists and the left wing militants / Out of work executives are killing themselves / And the I.R.A. are killing everybody else / Don’t panic, don’t lose control / Keep your head, keep ahold / Act normal there’s nothing wrong / Stay cool, just carry on / You gotta live life and be yourself / You can’t live life for anyone else / You gotta live life that’s all you do / Nobody gonna live your life for you / Don’t get depressed when you read in the press / About world revolution and social unrest / Try not to panic when you switch on the news / And see crooked politicians and the unemployment queues / It’s only life it’s really fine / So don’t you believe all you read in the headlines / Live life see it through / Carry on it’s all you can do / You gotta live life for yourself, can’t live for anyone else / You gotta live life, that’s all you do / Nobody gonna live their life for you / Extra verse from long version: / Trendy intellectuals always take action, / for every cause that’s ever been in fashion. / Weekend revolutionaries protest and sing / because they’re dedicated followers of any old thing. / They got every solution for every revolution. / They live in the slums just like the poor people do / but they’d rather sniff coke instead of glue. / Right-wing fascists beat up the blacks, / then they salute the Union Jack. / You can’t pretent there’s nothing wrong, / it’s not the end, so just carry on. / Oh, life’s a mother, oh, life’s a mother / Oh, life’s a mother, oh, life’s a mother / You gotta live life for yourself, can’t live life for anyone else / You gotta live life, that’s all you can do / Nobody gonna live their life for you / Live life, you gotta live life / You gotta live life, you gotta live life Copyright ray davies

im a big beatle fan this reminded me of that tune the inner light Without going out of my door, / I can know all things on earth / without looking out of my window, / I can know the ways of heaven. The farther one travels / the less one knows / the less one really knows. Without going out of your door, / You can know all things on earth / without looking out of your window, / you can know the ways of heaven. The farther one travels / the less one knows / the less one really knows. Arrive without travelling, / See all without looking, / Do all without doing. / copyright george harrison

“Sugar Mountain” Oh, to live on Sugar Mountain / With the barkers and the colored balloons, / You can’t be twenty on Sugar Mountain / Though you’re thinking that / you’re leaving there too soon, / You’re leaving there too soon. It’s so noisy at the fair / But all your friends are there / And the candy floss you had / And your mother and your dad. Oh, to live on Sugar Mountain / With the barkers and the colored balloons, / You can’t be twenty on Sugar Mountain / Though you’re thinking that / you’re leaving there too soon, / You’re leaving there too soon. There’s a girl just down the aisle, / Oh, to turn and see her smile. / You can hear the words she wrote / As you read the hidden note. Oh, to live on Sugar Mountain / With the barkers and the colored balloons, / You can’t be twenty on Sugar Mountain / Though you’re thinking that / you’re leaving there too soon, / You’re leaving there too soon. Now you’re underneath the stairs / And you’re givin’ back some glares / To the people who you met / And it’s your first cigarette. Oh, to live on Sugar Mountain / With the barkers and the colored balloons, / You can’t be twenty on Sugar Mountain / Though you’re thinking that / you’re leaving there too soon, / You’re leaving there too soon. Now you say you’re leavin’ home / ‘Cause you want to be alone. / Ain’t it funny how you feel / When you’re findin’ out it’s real? Oh, to live on Sugar Mountain / With the barkers and the colored balloons, / You can’t be twenty on Sugar Mountain / Though you’re thinking that / you’re leaving there too soon, / You’re leaving there too soon. Oh, to live on Sugar Mountain / with the barkers and the colored balloons, / You can’t be twenty on Sugar Mountain / Though you’re thinking that / you’re leaving there too soon, / You’re leaving there too soon. copyright neil young sm

Paul Weller / music copyright paul weller / Like pebbles on a beach / Kicked around, displaced by feet / Like broken stones – all trying to get home. / Like a losers reach / Too slow & short to hit the peaks / So lost & alone – trying to get home. As another piece shatters / Another little bit gets lost / And what else really matters – at such a cost? Like a losers reach - / Too slow & short to hit the peaks / So lost & alone – trying to get home. Trying to get home - / Like broken stones – all trying to get home.

A group of standing stones on Salisbury Plain in southern England. Dating to c. 2000-1800 b.c., the megaliths are enclosed by a circular ditch and embankment that may date to c. 2800. The arrangement of the stones suggests that Stonehenge was used as a religious center and also as an astronomical observatory.

Around 300 milliseconds. That’s how long it took a volunteer to begin to understand a pictured object. Add to that another 250 to 450 milliseconds to fully comprehend what it was. Total speed of thought: between 550 and 750 milliseconds. Such are the results coming out of work conducted by John Hopkins scientists seeking to measure rates of comprehension. “This information has been difficult to acquire,” says neurologist and team leader John Hart, “even with different combinations of behavioural tests, electrical recordings and imaging studies such as PET scans.” Yet by taking advantage of a unique opportunity afforded by a patient scheduled for tests using electrodes surgically placed on his brain, the researchers have moved one step closer to “building theories of higher mental activity.” Until now, the speed of cognitive operations (including language processing) has been the missing ingredient. Reporting their findings in the May 25 Proceedings of the National Academy of the Sciences, the researchers describe how the patient was asked to name and categorize a variety of pictures and words. By way of a grid of 174 electrodes, his brain activity was then monitored. The speed of comprehension was far quicker for objects that were already familiar to him. “The data, obtained within a single stage at a single site in the brain, are further evidence that information accumulates gradually in the brain, rather than in a strictly all-or-none fashion,” says Hart. He adds that understanding this process of accumulation could help scientists understand comprehension and word loss from disorders such as stroke or Alzheimer’s disease. reference www.scieneagogo.com

So, why is the number 8 considered lucky in the minds of Chinese people. The main reason has to do with the pronunciation of the word for the number 8 in China. It is pronounced “ba” and sounds like the word for prosperity which is pronounced “fa”. Another reason why the number 8 could be considered lucky is because it is a perfect symmetrical shape. You can cut the number 8 in half vertically or horizontally, and both halves mirror themselves perfectly. Perfect symmetry lends itself to perfect balance. In Chinese Astrology, perfect balance is considered the ideal.

newgrangeclannad / There is a place on the east / Mysterious ring, a magical ring of stones / The druids have lived there once they said, / Forgotten is the race that no-one knows. Chorus: / Rum de rum rud a derimo / Rum de rum rud a derimo The circled tomb of a different age / Secret lines carved on ancient stone. / Heroic kings laid down to rest / Forgotten is the race that no-one knows.
