  • Monster
    by RebeccaWeston

What made you into the monster / who made me go so wild? / Could I have stopped it? / No,.... / because I was just a child

When an abused child blames him/herself right into adulthood it can cause problems as he/she tries to understand what a ‘normal’ relationship should be. They can think of themselves as a ‘monster’ out of control, until she/he finally realises that they were not born a monster – he made them that way. The wonderful Earthmonster created this superb image Dark Secrets to accompany Monster. Thanks EM – for everything !! XX / Featured by Lifeline – 17th July 2009 Taken from a collection that I call C’est la vie! which I wrote many years ago and would have stayed hidden away without encouragement from dogfish / MCN: C60C7-D0ECF-0F733

in moments of clarity / I know they have never been my fault / neither the past, / nor its present consequences / ...even when I am not stron…

This is about consequences, blame, exoneration, and risk. I have altered this a little from the version posted in my journal. After receiving a particular comment, I decided to let this be a stand alone piece. _ / To BiographyOfRed: Marianna’s Trenches is an idea that is very open to many interpretations. Marianna’s Trench is the deepest place in the ocean with many sea creatures we once thought to only exist as mythic monsters. It is so dark at the bottom that some sea creatures there are born without eyes. It is a place full of wonders, and probably a million things waiting to eat you. It is beautiful. It is dangerous. It is a mystery.

In this poem a shameful man that ran away to escape his dark world has come full circle. His walking journey has aged him, and given him meaning to his troubling past. He is ready to face his most difficult journey and must confess to himself first before he can express to his creater what he has learned. Thank you so much for stopping here to read my mind.
