Hanging Rock near Baltzers Lookout in Blackheath N.S.W. Australia I got up at 4am / I hopped in my 4WD and went up the mountains for 40 minutes / went on a fire-trail to the end until I came across a Locked Gate. / I got out with my Maglight torch and ran in the Dark for 30 minutes. / I got to the cliff edge as the sun was rising. / Climbed down and captured this Photo for you. I hope you enjoy Click on the photo and see the larger view on this one! Thanks for visiting! / I really appreciate your comments.
On a blustery day the water tried to defy gravity. This is the first water off the falls for sometime, as we have had some welcomed rain.
This photo was taken at Evans Lookout, Blackheath in the Blue Mountains. It over looks the Grose Valley and many spectacular gorges. As you can see it was a hazy day however I was able to get a clear patch to the right before it moved in completely.
This photograph was taken at Evans Lookout in Blackheath, looking out upon the Grose Valley in the Blue Mountains National Park, Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Australia. I arrived at this lookout just in time to catch a rain storm rolling through the valley and also a rainbow. I had the best of both worlds. I stayed at this lookout for about 15 minutes, just to see how long it took for the rain to arrive where I was, it didn’t take long, I’m always amazed how fast the weather moves up here.
I took this shot of a rainbow at the bottom of the waterfall at Govet’s Leap, Blackheath, Blue Mountains.
Views of Kanimbla Valley and The Megalong Valley high in the Blue Mountains in NSW. Photo taken from Mt Blackheath.

Located near Blackheath in the Blue Mountains National Park, New South Wales, Australia. / The rock hangs into the Grose Valley. This spot is 2 hours drive west of Sydney & then an hours walk to this site. The area is not fenced or well signposted. You need good hiking boots because of the steep surfaces & loose gravel. I wouldn’t reccommend taking children there. / The rock is much bigger than it appears here, but I wasn’t game to get too close to the edge of the cliff. Featured in National Parks of the World on June 4, 2009, Blue Mountains of NSW group, Oct 8, 2008, Your Country’s Best group on November 5, 2009 & in #1 Artists of Redbubble on December 2, 09. This image appears in the Blue Mountains 2010 calendar. Eligible for the 500+ group with 1279 views as of Jan 2, 2010.
And this is the actual view that a couple in the Perfect view image are looking at. Tweaked in PS2 by my Benches co-host Peter who also insisted I upload this image. Much better viewed larger. Thank you for looking!
Shaddy and I went for a walk, we took some pics, this is one of them. Taken in the Grand Canyon, Blackheath, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia. VIEW LARGE! Shaddy at work….

This Currawong followed me from spot to spot at Evans Lookout in the Blue Mountains National Park, just near Blackheath. He was singing his melodious song as if to charm me. As he settled onto the branch of this dead tree, I thought it was my chance to get a shot at him … with my Nikon D80.
Following on from the popular view of this site, I thought I’d add a closer view of this amazing rock & the two fearless people who casually wandered to the edge while I hit some incredulous state of mind. This is Hanging Rock near Blackheath in the Blue Mountains of Australia. Taken in April 2008 in the Blue Mountains National Park. Featured in Australian Travel Photography & Writing group, Sept 6, 2009.
One day on my recent jaunt away in the Blue Mountains… I decided to pay a visit to the Wind Eroded Cave in Blackheath. It was gorgeous just sitting in the sun drawing and listening to the birds…. It’s an easy place to waste (depending how you look at it…lol) a lot of hours…. hmmmm… good days….. : )
Just before you reach Baltzer’s Lookout & Hanging Rock there is this view of a cliff on the right hand side. / The straight flat parts of the cliff fascinated me & I rushed to get this shot while an interesting, almost vertical, cloud sat in the sky. Those clouds change shape so quickly.
This brilliant walk isn’t as spectacular as it used to be before the bushfires & storms but it still has loads of fascinating coloured rocks & plentiful ferns. This walk is near Blackheath in the Blue Mountains National Park, Australia.
This is one of my favourite scenes on the Grand Canyon walk in the Blue Mountains National Park at Blackheath, Australia. Featured in the Your Magic PLACE group on November 1, 2009, Around The World on December 28, 09 & The Beauty of Nature group on December 31, 09. Thank you guys. This was a beautiful warm day to be in the mountains & two small but significant things happened. While I was standing quietly viewing one of these beautiful scenes a tiny finch was hopping around the forest floor & ended up jumping on to my shoe. It gave it a couple of surprisingly powerful pecks (hoping for a mouthful of food) before hopping away. / I’ve never had a bird do that before & I was very impressed. Also a snail without a shell somehow landed on my hat & almost circumnavigated it before I spotted the silver trail & offloaded it onto the forest floor. Cute !
This is a view of the Grose Valley that I had never seen before because I had done this walk many times but never gone off on the detour that was signposted with a “No through track” sign. It is close to Evan’s Lookout just off the Grand Canyon walk in the Blue Mountains National Park, Australia. This is a 4 photo stitch job … more like 3 & a half. / I have a lot to learn about stitching but I thought it came out ok. This is the Grose Valley in the Blue Mountains National Park in Australia.
Another beautiful image of the rocks & ferns on the Grand Canyon walk at Blackheath in the Blue Mountains National Park, Australia. I think I like this one as much as the Canyon steps image. It has the added highlight of the richly coloured rocks & none of the glare of the previous similar shot. This loop track is currently undergoing repairs (November 2009), so that you have to return the same way you came, but the advantage is that you get the see things from a different angle.
That’s Hanging Rock in the Blue Mountains National Park in New South Wales, Australia. / This National Park is 1 to 2 hours west of Sydney, Australia. Hanging Rock is on the left & on the right is the cliff face of Baltzer’s Lookout. I took this same shot a few weeks ago but the sun was too bright & Hanging Rock was in dark shade. / Yesterday I waited, not so patiently, while some wispy clouds managed to cover the sun a little so I could get this shot. / I was very popular with the flies while I waited. Too bad I forgot the Aerogard (insect repellant for those overseas).
