This collection of Urban Landscapes is drawn from a larger body of work called Darkscapes. They are moody evocative invitations into mystery and imagination taken from the ordinary things that make up the fabric of city life. Beauty is all around us if only we take the time to notice it. We all look but maybe we don’t all see. This collection of images is a way for me to share what I see with others. Some years back I was short listed for a Sculpture commission at the new Green Square Railway station. I didn’t in the end win the commission but I did get to walk up the tunnels before any trains traveled though the station. This is one of the many photo’s I took. This is a companion image to the Urban Landscape#28 taken underneath Green Square station a couple of years ago before the trains started to use the lines. Walking up these tracks was a truly amazing experience.
and it’ll happen again

This shot has a bit of a story behind it, I was with a group of fellow photographers on what we call a Ferry Hop expedition. Basically we spend the day or most of it, riding the Sydney Ferries to different destinations taking photos on board and where ever we disembark. On this particular outing a few of my fellow photographers and I decided to issue a challenge, walk up to perfect strangers and ask for to take their photo. This was only the second person I ask after the challenge was issued. This lovely gentleman had a great face, a lovely white and gray beard and looked just the part for a nautical theme. As it happens when I approached him, we were nearing a replica tall ship and the Darling Harbour light house (scene in the background). Well all the elements just fell into place, and I only took two shots but I knew I had bag a great image, I thanked the Sea Captain as I’ve now called him, showed him the image and let him travel the rest of the trip in peace. I’m considering entering this in the portrait section of the Real Photography compeition, while it may be a little unconventional, it’s one of my favourite portraits (and most the others my wife won’t let me post as they are pictures of her).

This shot was taken in Copacabana in 2006, a little town in the north of Bolivia, situated on the bank of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world at 3800 mts. / There was a big celebration in town that day and so much to see and discover. But I was so tired that I decided to sit down and rest for a while when those two men sat just in front of me. I took so many pictures of them but this one is my favorite. Click /
Not a nude but still a bit naughty. Dark elegant and compelling. Another old analouge image from the vaults. This looks great framed.
Sorry to all those who don’t like “pets and babies” photos… ;) This is my kitty trying to catch a fly on the window last night… The sun was coming down into our living room which gave that nice glow on one side of his face. I was originally going to make it all black & white but I just couldn’t bring myself to leave his gorgeous blue eye out! Update 22/03/2009: / Thanks to all your comments this photo is now on page #1 of the “most popular pictures of all times”! Please leave a comment and/or favourite it to help me keep it up there !! / Thank you all again for your support! :))
Go on! Say it in a gangster voice!! :) “Hiya Doll face…”

A portrait of my very old & most wonderful feline Tia… I found her homeless just barely surviving life along the Ct. River when she was just a young lady, exact age unkown… Her now gorgeous long thick orange-white fur all matted up & knotted.. Her emerald green eyes looking so scared yet full of hope… I coaxed her into my arms & I took her home with me. Oh no I thought… Another responsiblitie in my life is about to accour.. Perhaps I will find her a home I thought.. I cut off her snarled hair to grow again… Picked off the ticks attached to her tiny boney body & bathed her… She consumed lots of food & drink and in less than a day I decided to keep her home with me… She is dble paw-ed in the front with a crackleing high pitched voice & a cry that of a babies. She is extremely feminine and gentle.. She walks like a runway model, one paw placed intently in front of the other and a sultry wiggle to boot… She is a “Cover feature “kind of calendar cat… She is special also because is she is gentle & loving back at me along to other people & other animals of all species… She is special too because she made my quality of life better starting the day she roamed out from the woods along the river & into my life. Did I mention she has the looks of a top leading calender cat? She’s a 10 & is just simply special across the board… :) Thanks for cking her out here.. 1988 views written as required by the 500 group
