STALKING TIGER Slowly through the grass / The tiger stalked his prey / His movement long and languid / In the middle of the day / The sun was high and bright / As a vivid burning orb / His body moving slowly / Less heat there to absorb / Gazelles were moving fitfully / Around the waterhole / Nervous eyes were flitting wildly / As the world they did behold / A movement in the distance / And the animals did jump / The nerve ends all a jangling / Each one with quivering rump / Then like avenging angels / The tiger now does pounce / Gazelles are scattering wildly / With a death like spinning dance / And one of them is slower / No longer held at bay / The tiger now triumphant / As it finishes its prey Phil Sanders (aka Brummieboy) / 5/4/07 Thanks for the wonderful poem Phil!

White tiger at the aquarium in Houston. This is why I do not like seeing animals in zoos or cages. Wouldn’t you be bored if you were a jungle animal and you were put in a cage like this? They are beautiful, but I would prefer they were free. © 2008 Charles Dobbs Photography. All photographs and artworks in this portfolio are copyrighted and owned by the artist, Charles Dobbs. For me this is my best photo ever. I was in safari park and it was very difficult for me to watch all these baboons inprisoned and sadness in their eyes was extreme strong. I love animals very much and at my home I have quite a ZOO. I try to do so much for them, to rescue them, if nothing else I feed now so many birds in my yard, this is at least what anybody can do.This image change my way of thinking about us humans very much. I hope this image will move you the way it moved me and force you to do something good for animals. Thank you very much for viewing my work. Xenia!

Another shot from the Toronto Zoo!!! I wanted to post this shot, because I love all the textures in an elephants face and well everywhere. I decided on the close cropped one, to show the details better, and I loved it in B&W.Please look at in Full Screen to see the details! I hope you like it too! Thanks for viewing!!! =)smile / /

I layered the original photo under the b & w version on the computer- then just used the erasing tool to reveal the pink on the tongue below. This one was also cropped.

Critically Endangered, a census in Feb 2000 found only between 22-27 Amur or Far Eastern Leopards left in the wild. Found in southern Russia and northern China these animals are superbly adapted for the harsh winters of these parts of the world. They have long fur and a layer of fat on their flanks and belly for insulation. They are excellent climbers and swimmers. The main threat to the region is the exploration and exploitation of oil and natural gases. Increased Middle East instability, effective technology that can survive the cold and the high demand for fossil fuels, puts this wonderful animal’s habitat under increasing pressure. As you will see from others in my portfolio, I am quite fond of big cats! This image is also available as a colour version. Please let me know if you are interested.
