  • Soft morning light shining through the window of my cousin’s apartment in New York City, USA. I took this photo with a 30 year-old Pentax Spot-O-Matic camera and pushed the development process to increase the grain in the film. The photograph, I hope and think, captures the calm before the storm of everyday life. This image was scanned from the original negative on Kodak Tri-X film.

  • While I was on a mental health board, I made a ton of trips to NY alone. At night I’d set up my camera and tripod and shoot out of my hotel window. One night it started raining. At the time, I was living in New Mexico and found the view of the rain fascinating.

On a regular basis various live stock is let loose on the fields, this time it was horses. This was one of the horses that came over, along with others, hoping for the odd treat and as you can see, it was windy. Tried here to bring out the strong contrasts between the main hairs in the sun and wind and the shadow of the grey. Shot in York

  • Taken in New York several years ago in a very cold and snowy February. / Looking down I think 6th Avenue with Central Park behind me, I was trying to capture the birds as they flocked around the buildings when this wonderful lorry drove into view, that the dream of the city where fortunes can be won and lost in the grime and glamour of the city that never sleeps. Converted into a Holga/film effect

  • Taken on the Glaisdale to Egton road in North Yorkshire in the North York Moors National Park, looking back towards the Moors above Goathland and the valley of the River Esk. • And yes, lol the bright eyed will have spotted the name change lol / This is the reflection of the dreams of the Insurance world, a faux castle over looking the River Ouse and York Minster, now several thousand job losses later, two or three buy outs and name changes, it hangs like a ghost waiting to discover if it has a future in the financial global village. The best bit is the fact this building with it’s then owners demands for flood protection, actually caused the flooding to get worse in the city centre. The building holding the reflection is the dream of lottery money and regeneration of the riverside, City Screen, and if you get there early, a great place to sit outside, drink a coffee and watch the world slide by on the river.
