This wonderful oak tree is located in the foothills of the Tehachapi Mountains in Southern California. All the original limbs have been broken off by the snow loads of winter storms. The present limbs were regrown over the years. Photo taken during a blowing snowstorm.
We have snow – woo hoo!!!
Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. It flows into nearby St Mary’s loch (with its thriving sailing club) past old Tibbieshiels inn, hostelry and overnight stop for walkers on the southern upland way crossing Scotland. Overlooking the north end of the loch is a monument to James Hogg – the Scottish Poet known as the Ettrick Shepherd, friend and contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. Taken 4/3/08 (untouched) with a pocket fuji finepix A500 (There is a 2nd loch of the lowes further north in Perthshire, complete with osprey viewing centre – but you can see the wonderful fish eagle hunting here too if you are lucky!) My first ever feature on the home page ages on 23rd April 2008 and what a party that was…LOL See also : ‘i am a rock’ and ‘LoL’ loch of the lowes
This was taken up at Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland UK – this is a photographer battling against the wind – you have no idea how cold it was that day :)

Beautiful Bella appears from her ‘nest’ in the hayloft to confront the snow filled morning. Taking her time to survey her domain before descending the iron ladder to come in for her breakfast – whilst she ponders she has acquired a dusting of snowflakes. She sleeps inside a large tin trunk in the corner of the loft – it is filled with a soft fleece blanket and surrounded by straw and hay from days long gone – it is her place of solitude and retreat from visitors and the other cats! It’s hard to believe that she was so ill just a short time ago – it is just wonderful to see her so well and happy again!
Snow drifting quietly down, not a sound other than snowflakes softly landing, this beautiful fox letting me share it with him. Deep winter in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I promised if it won I’d dedicate the image to her, and indeed it went on to win, so this is for you Alice :) Pay It Forward / I was also delighted to hear that his image was nominated for the prestigious Pay it Forward group by Alice Oates (above). Each person is allowed to nominate their absolute favorite work created by someone else on Redbubble – and they are only allowed to choose one, so it’s a huge honour to be selected. Thanks a million Alice!... ”I would like to nominate Dyin’ Alone by Donald Cameron because, as you can see in his description, he went ahead with his promise that he’d dedicate the image to me if he won a challenge I suggested he enter. Also, I think it’s a fantastic image in itself, and deserved said win.”

A photo I took during one of the worst winter storms in Maritime history. They named it “White Juan” after “Hurricane Juan” that devasted most of the province only months before. It was storming and the fog was like pea soup… at the same time! There is an apartment complex just on the other side of those trees but you’d never think it. The first snow of the season, going outside with my camera i was fascinated from this young woman who was walking alone in this solitary country road.My attention was captured by her little red umbrella as if she wanted put a little bit of color to the melancholic atmosphere of that grey day.
