Though it was raining, drizzling, dripping, with intermittent showers between squalls of smir I was out and about on this lovely Sunday morning on InĂs Mor the largest of Irelands Atlantic Aran Islands. My landlady’s washing line was wisely bare of clothes and was like the rain was most likely used intermittently between showers of rain; but there was one piece of former clothing left out to dry, a rag. / A useful rag. Left all alone wet and one would imagine decidedly miserable. Not this rag, this rag weathered the conditions and hung there proudly, defiant as it knew that the sun would have to shine sometime and then, then the rag would be used to wipe; to wipe grease, dirt, mildew and maybe even some animal matter. Until then the rag would wait.
