  • A black and white with vignetting version of my image of Port Fairy Lighthouse. This is one of my all time favourite photographs so I thought I would share it. It was taken on a point and shoot about 3 years ago so is not available for larger prints. The flowers in the foreground of this photo have a story of their own. The bulbs of the irises were planted by the first lighthouse keepers in the garden of the long since ruined keepers house. All that remains of the house is a portion of the garden. The iris bulbs come up every spring as a reminder of what once was. Colour version is also available. This is how it looks in card form: I have this image on my wall using a black matte and charcoal frame which looks absolutely amazing and sets off the black and white image well.

  • This shot recieved a runner up award in the Black and White division of the ANZANG Nature and Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2006. The day before the shot was taken we had hiked 25 sandy km along the Howe Wilderness Zone coastline near the NSW / Victorian border. After a lengthy struggle through the dunes and undergrowth to get to Lake Wau Wauka we filled up with water and retraced our steps to camp on the edge of the dune field. The next morning I got up an hour before sunrise and witnessed the white dunes absorb all the predawn colours before a spectacular ocean sunrise had me chewing through my film in awe. I wandered around the huge dune fields taking advantage of the morning light that emphasised the ripples in the sand. The truly special element was the effect some rain had had on the dunes from a few days earlier. The sand in some areas had not dried out completely and as the wind had blown the lighter dry sand away amazing patterns had been left in the remaining wet sand. • I was having my coffee this morning on the balcony while watching the rain and it gave me an idea so here it is! This was taken of the rain coming down on the balcony balustrade with the clouds in the background. I know that there are lots of amazing captures of splashes here on RB but this image really wasn’t about the splash, to me, it was more about the capture of morning rain. • Canon 400D Camera + Sigma 10-20 Lens / 80 second exposure @ f8 On the southern tip of Australia you can find this prehistoric anamoly. It is one of only 3 places in the world that does not have any colour. It’s not an easy place to find, but i knew i was getting closer when i noticed that the blue from the sky was turning white, very strange. I was speaking to a local and he told me that they only get colour 3 months of the year, incredible!

  • This shot was taken of the window of the original Black Springs Bakery building in Beechworth, Victoria, Australia. It has a very french provincial feel to it, though. This was taken in autumn with a Canon DSLR EOS 350D camera and a 18-55mm lens. This was featured in the Canon DSLR Group, Rural Around the Globe group, Windows and Doors Group, Falling Leaves group and the Nature’s Reclamation Group.

I know there’s plenty of beautiful sunset shots but I love this as it’s from my house :o) / Nikon D200 / 18-200mm lens / Processed in RAW
