  • Misunderstood
    by Mundy Hackett

    US$3.28–US$65.55

This is a young (pup) Eastern spotted skunk (Spilogale putoius). They are a fairly unknown species in the Eastern half of the United States. I study them and other carnivores in Missouri where I was getting my PHD. From 1940-1980 their population numbers throughout their range declined precipitously by 99% (conservative estimate). They are excellent tree climber like gray fox, they do have a smelly scent gland for defense like the better known striped skunk, but they only weight about 2-3 pounds so they are much smaller by half. Curious and highly intelligent, they are actually better mousers than cats. This was an abandoned one that we took in and raised for educational presentations. It’s affectionately called Charley “Squirt” Whiff!

  • Dome of the Taj Mahal
    by RLHall

    US$6.27–US$167.20

Crown Jewel ~ inspired by the Taj Mahal, which is often referred to as / ‘Poetry in Stone’ The History of Lost Love / Shah Jahan of the Mogul dynasty was yet to accede the throne when he heard about the unsurpassed beauty of Mumtaz. He took Mumtaz as his third wife in 1612. For the next 18 years Shah Jahan and Mumtaz were inseparable. Shah Jahan took his wife along on every journey and war campaign. Over the years Mumtaz came to be his best friend, his critic and a canny political adviser. Mumtaz was expecting their 14th child when Shah Jahan embarked on a campaign against the Lodhi Empire in 1631. In the heat of the Indian summer, the army traveled to the Deccans. Mumtaz, who had accompanied the emperor, went through a rigorous childbirth. She died in Burhanpur. On her deathbed, she asked her husband to promise her that he would build a monument to their love. Legend has it that he locked himself in his room for eight days without food after Mumtaz passed away. After burying Mumtaz temporarily in Burhanpur, Shah Jahan went about constructing the Taj Mahal in right earnest. He summoned the best architects and artisans from far away lands like Multan, Kannauj, Lahore, Iraq and Persia. He arranged for the best marble from all around. It took 22 years, 22,000 people, 400 elephants and 32 million rupees to build the Taj Mahal. The result: an awe-inspiring structure, which is one of the most globally recognized symbols of grace and beauty. The Magnificent Monument / Built on a raised, square platform it is as tall as a 20-storey building. You enter through an imposing gateway. The complex consists of an elaborate garden set in the typical charbagh style, a mosque, a guesthouse and several other charming buildings. The mausoleum itself stands at the farthest end of the complex, right along the Yamuna River. The signature central dome (58 ft in diameter and 213 ft high) is truly magnificent and is echoed in the smaller domed chambers on all sides. The four slender minarets that rise from the corners of the mausoleum complete the picture of symmetry. The undisputed majesty and beauty is further reflected in the exquisite artistry created by inspired artisans from Baghdad, Shiraz and Bukhara. Exquisite floral patterns and calligraphy on both the exterior and interior were inlaid with precious stones such as jasper and agate. Quotations from the Koran were etched into stone archways; a pinnacle was set on the central dome; and thus came to life the most splendid resting place a lover could ever hope to find on this planet! By Ravi Kunjithai / Beautiful intricate abstract design bursting forth in hues of light blue and gray, yellow / orange, and even a hint of rose, all interspersed with lovely metalic golds. • Bleeding love
    by Mundy Hackett

    US$3.28–US$65.55

Bleeding love Where are we, what the hell is going on / The dust has only just begun to fall / Closed off from love, spinning round again / We didn’t need the pain, twice or thrice was enough / It was all in vain, time never ceases to pass / We’re frozen in this cycle of destruction Oil marks appear on walls, / where pleasure moments hung before / Sweeping insanity, sweeping insanity / Oh the insensitivity Something happened on the way, we lost our way / There was a very first time with us, we tasted the displeasure / The bile of unhappy endings and scorched earth policies / We let our hearts melt, / disappearing into the very ground we tread upon / We lost what was true, found something false to replace it / People get ready, there’s a train a coming / And everyone’s looking round, / but we no longer know who is going crazy / I know I’m going crazy Few are bold to say without care for circumstance / I don’t care what they say, I am still in love with you / Torturous souls that love the very thing that makes them sad / They try to pull us away, but they don’t know the truth / Our heart’s are crippled by the vein they keep on closing / They cut us open, and we keep bleeding / We just keep bleeding love We tried hard not to hear, but they talk so loud / Their pandering and propaganda piercing our ears / Question and they try to fill us with doubt / Our goal is to keep me from falling Nothing in this world is greater than the rush that comes / with our patriotic embrace / In this world of loneliness we must cease to lose face / Now everyone around us is going crazy, maybe, maybe It’s draining our history, it’s draining our souls / They find it hard to believe that we pity them / It is all of us who will be wearing these scars / For everyone to see Taken w/Nikon D2Xs + Nikkor 300/2.8 AFS VR

  • I Am America
    by Helen Bascom

    I am a buyer / and a seller / I am a giver / and a user

For the first time in American history there will be a Democratic Party Candidate for President who is either a Black male or a White female running against a White male Republican Party Candidate. Never mind the hate speech both Clinton and Obama have sparked by their bid for the nomination. I can now tell my son that this is America where little boys and girls, of any race or religion, can grow up to be President ( I hope). America is a land of diversity and of contradiction. / MCN: B64-RW1A-9461

I added a filter or 5 ( I forget), and then moved onto photoshop. There I added the smoke, and some lighting effects, as well as a few more filters.
