Shot at the trainstation in Aarhus, Denmark in January – a train was leaving the station, and as I walked up along the carts, I noticed this guy sitting there. I moved a couple of carts ahead, put the viewfinder to my eye, waited for him to get in the picture – and snap.

Pen and ink drawing of a guy I knew once he was the most fasionable transient I ever knew. So the guy he was homeless right and he layered his suit pants and his suit shirts and all he needed was some shoes and a coat. So I bought him a suit jacket and shoes and he got a job. In Missoula Montana there are a lot of homeless people. I have been fortunate enough to make friends with many. I try to do what I can for people! God knows my heart is full and my pockets are empty…. / God bless and One Love, / Kimberly Hoffard

Just loved the grit offered by this train wheel. Burned to oblivion to bring out the lumps and bumps but I think it works.

During my travels in six states in the past week, I finally landed in Durbin West Virginia, where I stayed with a friend of mine. This old coal steam engine depot is in her little historical town of Durbin. We finally got a chance to ride this train that soon will be reaching it’s centinial (100th) birthday in 2010. This engine is called The Durbin Rocket One of three coal steam engines actually running in the world. When we came to a short stop, I took advantage of shooting this (and yes, have quite a few shots while riding it) Something about the elderly gentleman looking at this engine remembering when he was a boy and rode trains like this enticed me to shoot it in black and white. This has not be converted, I changed settings on camera to shoot in BW, I will be adding more photos of my travels after I return from Texas this weekend. This was shot in SS priority, F-stop of 8.0, Exposure at 1/125, ISO of 400, Exposure Compensation at 0 / Best if viewed larger.

If you look closely you can see two trains in this one. Firstly there is the blur of one on the left track heading away from the camera and then there is one approaching on the right track. I’ve deliberately left in it’s yellow light beam… Can you see them try viewing it large.. This was taken on the same night as Departure /
