Beautiful black swan at Floriade in Canberra, Australia. This swan is the proud parent of 4 signets, two of which are featured in one of my other images. She was gathering the willow branch you see in this image to feed to her signets. I could watch them for hours.
Black Swan on river in Adelaide.
I went to the local lagoon (don’t you have one?) this morning looking for inspiration. I couldn’t believe how lucky I was. I now have a series that I am dedicating to the wildlife sanctuary known as Dangars Lagoon and to all those who maintain this wonderful oasis.
About four days old. Sadly since this photo was taken, one, the smallest, died.
I was asked to draw a swan for a good friend of mine and for three days at work I was consumed with the idea of a swan girl. Each day I drew one of these swan girls and each one appeared distinct from the other and seemed to possess its own sentiment. This swan girl reminds me of the irish fairytale/legend, The Children of Lir, in which a stepmother, jealous of the childrens love for one another were changed into swans for 900 years. When finally the spell was broken the swans were transformed into withered old people. / Whether the children enjoyed their time as swans I’m not sure, but loosing childhood seems tragic, hence the rather sad swan girl.
Close up shot of a Black Swan, the state emblem for Western Australia. Taken at Lake Monger, Perth, WA. Taken with Canon 5D and 70-300mm lens @ f5.6, ISO 320, 1/600th sec, handheld, as is.
So rare, the St. Louis Zoo has only two. The Swans enjoy a pristine outdoor home where the water is so clear, one can see the growth on the concrete bottom, adding a colorful background for viewing. The Swans are often visited by a few other birds that travel freely through the zoo grounds, including peacocks that often display for the Swans. Talk about confusion !!!! :-)
Black Swan at the Edithvale Wetlands Melbourne Australia
inspired by my experience with henna i’ve got 11 more finished but i haven’t taken pictures of them yet… acrylic paint on watercolor board 8×10 inches
Canon S5is, Tv-1/10, F4.5, ISO-200 @ 13.9mm, / Once again taken on the way home after night shift, and I had to take a ladder with me and place it on the back of my flat tray to try to get above the reeds. If you look closely you can see the swan. FRAMED
