This is from a series I produced a few years ago in my homemade, primitive, yet functional darkroom. Sadly, my enlarger now lives in the bottom of a cupboard :(

White tiger at the aquarium in Houston. This is why I do not like seeing animals in zoos or cages. Wouldn’t you be bored if you were a jungle animal and you were put in a cage like this? They are beautiful, but I would prefer they were free. © 2008 Charles Dobbs Photography. All photographs and artworks in this portfolio are copyrighted and owned by the artist, Charles Dobbs. Date: November 2002 Medium: Film Photography / (Pentax K1000, 400ISO Ilford B+W) Model: Suzi Description: / My original idea for this photograph was to use lines to distort and exaggerate the human form. I used body paint and ambient light from two 500W lamps to achieve this effect. I used a Hoya 4+ filter in the darkroom to boost the contrast.

Model/MUA – Atrophy / Dress by Howard Showers I heart pools. I never had one, which might explain why I like throwing clothed models in them for the sake of art. Copyright 2008 Harmony Nicholas

Ref / with special permission from model and photographer pluschkind I bumped into this fantastic image while browsing the photography on deviant art and the photographer/model was happy to let me try my hand at drawing it. / As you can see though, I ended up painting it. oils on watercolour paper. I’ve never tried that before but i had no black watercolour paint so I thought, why not!? So all I used was black oils and turpentine to get the greys, like with watercolours. / The way the white cuts up the image reminded me of an image we’d looked at in my visual culture class, the artist had digitally erased lines through the person to create white tribal markings. this erasure gave me the idea for the title of this piece. This Portrait is available in my 2009 calendar!
