I love the snow, especially the first footing of freshly fallen snow. The snow in this image has been first footed, second footed, third… well you get the idea. Many people, especially children have walked and played in this snow and I imagine that each footprint has its own story to tell. What I also like about this image is the stark skeletal image of the trees drawing the eyes right into the centre of the picture.
This is a picture of my barn. It was late winter of 2006. The window that is covered by snow, is about 4 feet off the ground. Snow falling in icy crystals / winds roaring pushing snow dunes / swirling vortexes of wonder land delight / on the day of no sun everlasting / pushing on as minutes pass / swirling snow builds on icy glass written by my daughter Tiffany

Taking a short walk in the hills just out of the village Libverda Spa (Lazne Libverda), I was fascinated by the wind playing with snow, and by the dark leafless trees contrasting with the snowy tracks on the road. February 2002. Canon EOS 500N, Sigma 28-135. Post-processing: retouch, levels, convert to BW, sharpening, crop. This is the same locality where I made the photograph Landscape around Libverda Spa, Czech Republic five and half years later:
This piece was taken on a beautiful snowy day near Big Sky, MT.
All humans are frightened of their own solitude. But only in solitude can we learn to know ourselves, learn to handle our own eternal aloneness. ~ Han Suyin
Another illustration from “Snow Man is My Friend.” I only have one more from this series to put up and I’m going to do it as soon as I’m done with this one. It only took me about half a year to get them all on Redbubble… I never claimed to be fast.

Featured in Snow! Glorious Snow! on July 30th, 2009. A Canadian goose sitting in a field of white snow leans slightly to observe the photographer. Not all geese fly south for winter, some prefer to stay put.

Snow
Whilst we were entertaining friends for the afternoon, it began snowing rather heavily. It was the first proper snow storm of the season. My little girl, without thought for the cold or the wet, ran outside with a joyful expression on her face and began catching snow flakes on her tongue. It is this abandonment of expression and glee that I love about my children. It is the same way that Jesus desires us to approach him, with sheer joy, and without reserve. Canon EOS—1Ds Mark ll / 28-300mm IS zoom lens / f/5 / 1/160 / ISO 400 When I shot this, the image came out quite dark as it was getting dark outside. I did shoot others which are brighter but don’t have the detail of the snow as good. The snow in the others is blurred because of longer exposure, and I didn’t want to use a flash because I wanted to keep the natural light. I decide to lift the shadow and raise the exposure a bit using iPhoto and changed it to B&W to highlight the detail of the textures. I am pleased with the result. I hope you like it as well.
