  • I took this picture a couple of years ago at the beach of Marina di Grosseto, Tuscany, Italy. / This is a fine example I think of how a fisheye lens can completely change the feeling of an ordinary scene. The subject is simply some surf on the seashore, captured from a distance of not more than a foot. / The original picture is a Fuji Velvia 50 Iso medium format slide. Hope you enjoy it, thanks for dropping by. Paolo

  • This is Port Willunga Jetty in mono. Taken at Port Willunga, South Australia, Australia at sunset. I was going for a high key type image. This was taken on a tripod, no flash, f25, ISO 200, 1.3 sec exposure with a Canon DSLR EOS 350D. I was so fortunate to sell, on redbubble, a large mounted print of this work, with the white border and artist’s details, to a good friend, Nathan. Thank you so much.

Background Information: / Tofino is a village of about 1,650 residents on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada, located at the western terminus of Highway 4. It is located at the tip of the Esowista Peninsula, and is thus a part of Clayoquot Sound. Islands in the vicinity include Meares, Vargas and Flores. Lone Cone on Meares Island is an extinct volcano. Tofino and the nearby town of Ucluelet are the closest towns to the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The settlement of Tofino first acquired the name in 1909 with the opening of the Tofino Post Office, named in association with Tofino Inlet nearby. Tofino Inlet was named in 1792 by the Spanish commanders Galiano and Valdés, in honor of Admiral Vicente Tofiño, under whom Galiano had learned cartography. A popular tourist destination in the summer, Tofino’s population swells to many times its winter size. It attracts surfers, nature lovers, campers, whale watchers, fishermen, or anyone just looking to be close to nature. In the winter it is not as bustling, however, many people visit Tofino and the west coast to watch storms on the water. Close to Tofino is Long Beach, a scenic and popular year-round destination, at the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Nearby Maquinna Marine Provincial Park, with its natural hot springs, is located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) north of Tofino and is also a popular day-trip destination for tourists although it is only reachable by boat or float plane. • The world is about to end because of global warming. Temperatures are soaring, ice is melting, glaciers are retreating, seas are rising, and we’re all going to fry. We’re all up to here with worry about it. The Royal Society says there’s no longer any room for scientific doubt about it. Britain’s Chief Scientist says it’s a bigger threat than global terrorism. / Every global warming sceptic is denounced as clinically insane. Every developed nation wags its finger at every other (well, ok then, at America) and tells it to Emit Less. Every politician and B-list celebrity now anxiously measures his or her carbon footprint. Every British schoolchild is now drilled to believe that man-made global warming is a Fact along with poverty and the existence of Belgium. It’s a wonder any of us has any incentive to get up in the morning. :) Online Galleries: / Surrealism art prints / 2d3d graphic design software / 3ds models max software

  • Under the pier at Cowes, Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia at Dawn. Taken at the same time as Beginning of a new day for something a little bit different. It was pretty chilly, windy and way too early in the morning for me, it’s amazing how much lens distortion you get with a wide angle lens! / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm EF-S. • Black glass magic – I had gone on this shoot with a bad attitude, expecting the sky to be bland and the day to be a waste of time, and therefore I set the camera on large jpg so I wouldn’t waste too much computer space….As it turned out, I’ve managed to drag out some amazing results. This is another straight from the camera image, although I had to take it into PS to straighten the horizon…. Canon 5D Mk II, 16-35mm at 16mm, f/10, 90seconds, ISO 50, Hoya NDX400, Singh Ray 3 stop reverse grad, Lee 0.9 ND grad, tripod, cable release, lots of guessing….I should point out the red sky is enhanced by the Singh Ray filter, which seems to put a colour cast across the ND area when used in conjunction with the Lee filter…. - / SEASCAPES / NEW ZEALAND / PEOPLE
