Taken in winter on a very wet day the photo was shot from St Marks Square looking over the grand canal to San Giorgio Maggiore Island
I love shooting at night, and generally am out alone when I’m shooting – it’s when I produce my best work (in my mind anyway). / / This is one of my favorite places in the city. You can sit here alone for hours, traffic streaming past, only the occasional pedestrian, while hundreds, or even thousands of people are just a few feet below. It’s both a quiet spot to find refuge, and a place that symbolizes the loneliness and isolation that can be experienced in a city of millions. © Sara Lamond 2007. thank you Cordelia for the glorious bunch of gerberas you gave me, rich in colour and absolutely photogenic : ) thank you Dana DiPasquale who posed the question – how do you get reflections in a water drop – the answer for me, would have to be by sheer fluke/luck and 1,000 attempts of which one may show a reflection ; )
Matsumoto castle is a sight never to forget, / by day, or by night. I do admit though, I cheated a little with the negative space in this one. ;) / The reflection and the rest of it however are real. More Japan / / / This image is available as wallpapers for your desktop

What is it like to leave, to go away not come back. I probably think about it way too much, I used to want to go so badly, more for the sake of it than anything else. Right now though, I have reason to stick around. / I touched a leaver on this morning, the feeling didn’t linger the way it did the other day, It was cold, I expected the warmth like i am used to, the feeling of acceptance of my touch being absorbed into the skin. At least he had his hat with him as he was on his way, its alright, it meant something to us to see it go with him, the smiles formed beneath the tears dispersing them at least for a little while. / One foot in front of the other we carried an empty box a moment after the last glances of the dust trails left behind. / Where did you go? i can only wonder, you say you’ll be there on that day you spoke, but will you really? or is it just a pleasant thought that can be believed to be true, I’ll smile for you. / / . This is the now Park Hotel on North Street in York, sitting next to the River Ouse in York, over shadowing both the river and the Ouse Bridge. Although most of the time it really is a local blot on the skyline of the river and city, at certain times it becomes the photographers friend, like this moment when it light up in the morning sun.
