First Tree was Featured in Lifestyles Magazine as part of an article about the Artists of the West coffee table book I am also honored to announce my painting First Tree was a part of the Rialto Towers two week art exhibit in Melbourne, Australia in of July 2007 Acrylic and pastel on illustration paper. (1995) This is truly the first tree I ever painted, the need to paint and create was something brewing so strongly inside I had to do something about it. Yet my resources were very limited, I grabbed the only paint I had any access to, a can of my father’s black spray paint, I sprayed it into the lid of the can and used the only paintbrush I owned a cheep nylon brush from a water color kit and created. I then finished my work with the only two pastels I owned brown and black. / Necessity is the mother of invention, or maybe it’s that there is more than one way to skin a cat. (Sorry cat lovers) At any rate I grew up in a home with very few luxuries but I did have a passion to create, always, I had to feed the creativity. So this is a very special piece to me and I hope to you as well. Down through the dark trees, you came and saved me... I wasn’t bored…......... :) because I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to be doing…....paying bills and doing housework, he he he, believe me , I made this drag out as long as I possibly could and that was easy because there is no way to time a stinking, huge droplet to fall where you want it to. When the fun was over…....sadly I went back to the reality of the mundane and did what I was supposed to do but with a much happier attitude :) that’s my story and I’m sticking to it :) Photograph of a droplet/eyeball with a background of a painted cement block, / Selective coloring and shadow added.

Taking a break from the Capriccios while I decide if the series is complete. / I painted the house years earlier than I got the new ink. / In light that I consider myself fairly perceptive I did not see the similarity between the walls and my skin for months after.

This stencil was created in early 2008 inspired by fashion photography and damp cold London. Recently cut stencil with one layer from an older stencil of a zebra in pink on her dress, with hand drawn cobbled stones. The canvas itself is 3 times in length this is just a mere snap shot of the original piece. This piece is 1 of 3, utilising the same same stencil and composition of works I’ve posted on Red Bubble at the moment. The other is ‘snow and umbrella’ and ‘rain birds’

[Taken in Natural Light]. Taken on the banks of the river Nile, remote Nigeria. I got into conversation with this Muslim girl and I felt s deep compassion for her, as she said She sells peanuts to get money to help her Grandfather who cares for her and her brother and two sisters. Her mother is dead and when she died the father just left and never returned. She told me that she only sold three packets that day and she was selling from around 10 am to 7pm. She did not make enough even to buy basic foods. She spoke good English so I knew she had had some education. I and my fellow mission workers bought what she had left. Then I asked her If I could pray for her. She said yes. I asked God to open her heard adn reveal himself to her. We led to to Christ. She wept and the lord really did touch her. We now visit her village often. All proceeds from sale of my art, or donations made via our charity website goes to help extreme poor and sick in remote and rural villages of Africa. / In my goal to portray women in all guises and emotions, here is the latetst addition to the collection..”The Temptation”....we all know what the feeling…temptation comes in many disguises…is she the temptress, or has she been tempted?make of her what you will… / When I was halfway through painting it, I remembered a picture I had seen in a magazine advertising lipstick….the model had her fingers on the open lips…. I thought they would be a perfect addititon to the painting, but I needed to see them again, just to be sure…. I frantically dug through my recycling bin (luckily we are having a garbage strike and everthing is still here) and found the picture…..the fingers were just what I needed…it was apparent that the picture had been buried in my subconscious, just waiting to emerge in this painting….I made the modifications to the image and here it is Acrylic and watercolour on Fabriano Paper.. 613 views…33 Favouritings..
