STALKING TIGER Slowly through the grass / The tiger stalked his prey / His movement long and languid / In the middle of the day / The sun was high and bright / As a vivid burning orb / His body moving slowly / Less heat there to absorb / Gazelles were moving fitfully / Around the waterhole / Nervous eyes were flitting wildly / As the world they did behold / A movement in the distance / And the animals did jump / The nerve ends all a jangling / Each one with quivering rump / Then like avenging angels / The tiger now does pounce / Gazelles are scattering wildly / With a death like spinning dance / And one of them is slower / No longer held at bay / The tiger now triumphant / As it finishes its prey Phil Sanders (aka Brummieboy) / 5/4/07 Thanks for the wonderful poem Phil!

Myrtle beech forest at Tarra Bulga State Forest, Victoria, Australia. This photo was taken up near where the Gippsland fires had burnt in Feb 2009. Luckily The park didnt really get touched bar the spot fire near the information building/rangers office. Tarra Bulga National Park surived the Black saturday fires and still stands though a few kilometres down the road it is a different story all together from the top of Mount Tassie right to the bottom of the mountain everything has been wiped out including peoples homes, farms, vechiles, communication towers, forest plantations etc.

Out for the afternoon some time ago with Baldric when the rains came and went leaving stark sand and dampened timbers. Canon 400D – cir polarising filter on an 18-55 lens.

This is the sunset at Nambung National Park located about 245 km drive north from Perth, Western Australia. I am not sure what has caused this sky colour. A male yellow headed blackbird near Oxbow Bend, Grand Teton National Park, USA. Nesting amongst reeds in marshes, the yellow headed blackbird feeds on insects and seeds. Migratory in nature, yellow headed blackbirds breed through the central United States into northern Canada. Winter grounds extend from the southwestern United States well into central Mexico. Common among songbirds, the male is the one blessed with spectacular plumage while females sport drab black and brown feathering. While the yellow headed blackbird is a flagrantly beautiful bird, it’s normal call is entirely non-melodic, raucous and harsh. A single tree stands high above Great Langdale in the Cumbrian Lake District, against the passing rain clouds, while (OK squint and view the large version lol ) a small flock of birds circle against the clouds. The light just broke through below the tree as I raised the camera. Each time I deliver to the Old Dungeon Ghyll, I always check to see if it has survived the passing seasons.

This is the view of Ennerdale Water from the village of Kirkland in Cumbria. As you can see, it was a day blessed with dramatic clouds, sudden rain showers and blasts of bright baking hot sunlight. Converted into a Holga/film effect

This little bridge is known as Beggars Bridge built for the love of a young lady and social status is at the edge of a hidden village of Glaisdale in the heart of the Yorkshire Moors, in North Yorkshire. This wonderful little bridge over the River Esk is a delight to look at, but with the train bridge behind and newer road bridge running along side, it is really difficult bridge to photograph. With Limber Hill leading down into it, have the brakes serviced before visiting or take the train to the station just around the corner. Converted into black and white
