FIRST TIME PUBLISHED / When I looked outside my restaurant in Broome I saw two cowboyheads sitting on the tables outside and I had a strong urge to make some photo’s. I spook to the two men they where from Fitzroy Crossing. They where watching a crowd of Indeginous Aboriginal men and women ‘hanging’ outside in the Plaza. They where waiting for the local liquorshop to open, In Fitzroy is now a ‘ban’ on alcohol, they told me, so Fitzroy Crossing is now a ‘dry’ Community Miss. / Broome, Western Australia. / Today I received an email stating; CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR IMAGE ‘TYPAN’ is one of 55 images from the PEOPLE & PLANET International Photo Competition. to be published in the 2009 People&Planet; Social Justice & Enviroment Diary, which will be published this month in Australia (2009). / We thought that your image was incredible, and it won from a pool of OVER 1000 images from 316 photographers from around the World! / All funds raised by the People&Planet diary go to Australia’s small non profit organisations which are working to promote social-justice and environmental substainability around the world. /

David was playing the part of a young gravedigger in director Conor McMahons rural horror film “Dead Meat” where mad cow disease has infected the local population turning them into, well you guessed it flesh eating Zombies. This was Day 1 for David and he was just dressed up in rural garb about to fling himself in front of a car when I took this portrait of him in the fairy woods of Leitrim. / I love this portrait as it is timeless or more to the point it harks back to the Golden age of movie heroes and stars and David is one here.

I’m still bored. A lot people become famous here by posting gratuitous pictures of themselves in the buff, so I’m trying desperately to cash in. Sorry Male Nude Group, no penis. For a limited time only. I’m vain, but not that vain.

Portrait of a guy (Indian or Black American) underlying a bolted frame plate covered in a block print along with surrounding abstract shapes and textures, some flat, some in 3D. A white airbrushed cloud was added to this composition to bring more depth between the shapes also creating a frosty cold air feeling for this black and white image. 1-6-07

Jim – is the senior volunteer Guide for the Bibbulmum Track here in Western Australia. / This was taken in the Dwellingup Hotel beer garden after an arduous four day walk in support of the Bibbulmum Track Foundations Corporate Challenge. A four day walk during which competitors in groups of four complete several land and water based activities. The Bibbulmum Track is a world acclaimed 1000 km walk only track from Perth to Albany on the states Southern Coast. Spaced about every 20 clicks or so are three walled huts with bunks, fire place and a bush toilet. I reckon Jim’s done about 6 or 8 full length walks. See ya there :-) Further info can be obtained at the following address: http://www.bibbulmuntrack.org.au/ >
