Every afternoon on my way home from work I would see that lamp post coupled with the Harbour Bridge and I’d think to myself “That would make for a great shot”. Part of my 2:14am series A regular thought occurred; Sometimes its easier to think when the rest of the population is in the other world, the Dream world. The numbness of the cold is also a helpful mystery. Although as I thought about the Dreaming people living their other lives I envied them, If only I could sleep forever and stay as my other self for the rest of my eternity, that way my problems are lifted and a whole set of new problems can emerge, Change is good no matter how bad it may seem. Without this change we can not die, but we can not live without it. Final of my 2:14am series ... maybe. What If? / Two very intriguing words. I find it hard to think about all the different Lives in this world, and how you can only be one. ONE! in the trillions and trillions and trillions you could have been in the past and future and you are only One… it is amazing. / It beats at my mind, it proves how insignificant one life is no matter what you accomplish. You spend 80 or so years, if you’re Lucky, being this person, in this time, doing whatever it is you are doing and thats it. You have no idea what it would be like to be another person, in the distant past, future or in the now. there are 6 billion here in present time, You may think you are 1 in 6 billion, but when you put in all those that have once lived, going back to the first spark of human life up to now and then you add the many many MANY more yet to even be close to dawning this world you feel like nothing, a grain of sand against the largest Star, or even less. Think of all those people you could be just by making one little change, If you made that green light, if you didn’t trip over that gutter, if you had eggs for breakfast instead of cereal today or if you never saw this image. It seems insignificant, but its something you will never know the effects of, all you know is what you are now because what you have or haven’t done. You are a completely different person because of it, it may not seem it but thats only because you do not know the other side of that moment that you just let blow unnoticed right in front of your eyes. by parmiDifferent? My depiction of the mind of someone in personal struggle with society. The light and the dark, happy and sad, known and unknown. All of this moving with random thought processes, pop culture, gossip, media influence, culture clashes and a lot of the time, white noise to fill whatever silence is left. This is modern society. Confusing, confronting, intimidating and at times down right scary. Which way do we go? Title of this piece I have borrowed from one of my favourite songs: “..can I please have some silence. How about some space..“ / Mindcircus – Way Out West. City Of Melbourne Musuem. Not the one in Carlton, housing dinosaur bones and relics though. This is the nondescript one on Spring Street, in the old Treasury Building. It showcases the history of Melbourne as a city, from colonisation to today. This was taken in the vaults, underground. Which have been turned into an interactive journey through the gold rush days. This particular room had only a tv and light in it, both of modern look. The contrast grabbed my attention straight away. It had a spooky yet familiar effect on me. I didn’t know what to make of it, but I kept looking at it, unsure what to think or feel. Slight crop of original photo. Desaturated all and selectively coloured tv screen. Increased contrasted and brightness to achieve higher levels of mood.
