  • Flying out Sao Tome
    by Anthony Asael

    US$4.27–US$114.00

São Tomé and Príncipe is an island nation in the Gulf of Guinea, off the western equatorial coast of Africa. It consists of two islands: São Tomé and Príncipe, located about 140 kilometres off of the north-western coast of Gabon. Both islands are part of an extinct volcanic mountain range. / I really enjoyed working there…. It is probably one of my favourite in Africa. It has a wonderful Brazilian touch…. And it is pretty untouched….. if you are lucky to get there one day, please leave the way it was…. / I am really sad to see how in too many countries tourism has destroyed the village, the people and more…. / It is also one of the some African countries were people really value their place and would not fly away to the “American dream” or “European Eldorado”. All proceeds from sales of pictures will go to the child art education project of Art in All of Us (WWW.ARTINALLOFUS.ORG)

  • This is for Mike, one of the weather guys on the Cocos Islands. Everyday we would ask him what the forecast was, and everyday he would reply “Mostly fine, chance of a shower”! I guess this was the “chance of a shower” bit! Mike is a great guy with lots of wonderful stories from his time spent living all around Australia.

  • 'Iliki' Spirit of Aloha
    by Karin Taylor

    US$4.70–US$125.40

‘Iliki’ Spirit of Aloha is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper using ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal. My darling ‘Illiki’ was inspired by James Michener’s novel ‘Hawaii’ and the beautiful young hawaiian girl who is one of the charming characters early on in the story. I was completely swept away during the reading of this incredible novel, highly recommended reading :D I think that the song Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole really relates to the story …. as his melancholy voice is so melodically accompanied by the ukelele….. it reminds me of the story of Iliki the young hawaiian girl, who leaves her island when still very young…. forever she haunted the mind of the young minister missionary who tended her and taught her in his first days on the island, he forever wondered how she was faring in the civilised world, having been taken away on a ship by the white men. He felt a certain special kind of fatherly love for this girl, and it tore his heart that she was so clever and cottoned on so well to the new english language, and customs he would teach her, as well as the scriptures…but she was a wild thing, and never one to be ‘pigeon-holed’ or contained… he set her free and never saw her again. Here are the lyrics to Israel’s version of the song, i feel that is how the young missionary felt, even as he grew old on the island of Hawaiia, waiting hoping wondering with every ship that pulled in, whether the young girl Iliki would be aboard and he would welcome her return, sadly that day never came tho: SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW Ooooo oooooo ohoohohoo / Ooooo ohooohoo oooohoo / Ooooo ohoohooo oohoooo / Oohooo oohoooho ooooho / Ooooo oooooo oooooo / Ooooo oooooo oooooo Somewhere over the rainbow / Way up high / And the dreams that you dreamed of / Once in a lullaby ii ii iii / Somewhere over the rainbow / Blue birds fly / And the dreams that you dreamed of / Dreams really do come true ooh ooooh / Someday I’ll wish upon a star / Wake up where the clouds are far behind me ee ee eeh / Where trouble melts like lemon drops / High above the chimney tops thats where you’ll find me oh / Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly / And the dream that you dare to,why, oh why can’t I? i iiii Well I see trees of green and / Red roses too, / I’ll watch them bloom for me and you / And I think to myself / What a wonderful world Well I see skies of blue and I see clouds of white / And the brightness of day / I like the dark and I think to myself / What a wonderful world The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky / Are also on the faces of people passing by / I see friends shaking hands / Saying, “How do you do?” / They’re really saying, I…I love you / I hear babies cry and I watch them grow, / They’ll learn much more / Than we’ll know / And I think to myself / What a wonderful world (w)oohoorld Someday I’ll wish upon a star, / Wake up where the clouds are far behind me / Where trouble melts like lemon drops / High above the chimney top that’s where you’ll find me / Oh, Somewhere over the rainbow way up high / And the dream that you dare to, why, oh why can’t I? I hiii ? Ooooo oooooo oooooo / Ooooo oooooo oooooo / Ooooo oooooo oooooo / Ooooo oooooo oooooo / Ooooo oooooo oooooo / Ooooo oooooo oooooo
