I love hornets, I don’t like being around them but I’ve always thought that there are much worse jobs if you have to be reincarnated as an insect. / Nobody messes with a hornet. I was thinking of the Book of Kells when I got the idea for this. Image was taken at Banham zoological wildlife park Norfolk England UK Golden-headed lion tamarin I love this image…............. (-: The golden-headed lion tamarin is a small, squirrel-sized monkey, about 26 cm long with a 35 cm tail and long golden lion-like mane. It is predominantly black with golden fur to the front of the mane, the lower half of the front paws and part of the tail. The face, hands and feet remain bare. The feet have sharp claws (most other primates have nails) that are useful for gripping and climbing branches and also for grabbing their insect meals. Country: Brazil Continent: South America Diet: Insects – insectivore, fruit – frugivore, small lizards. BRITISH WILDLIFE SERIES This is the last of my older works (I think) / Swan Splash was done about 20 years ago / One of my first pen and ink drawings in this / style. / I have done this piece about 5 times for / exhibitions over the years (different sizes and / slightly different details) but this is the original / that only I have. Featured in Friends of Bangor and North Down Camera Club, Northern Ireland August 23, 2009. Best Viewed Full Size This little image is only one of nearly 400 (yes, I discovered the rapid fire thingie on the new camera over the weekend) I took of these most amazing creatures. It means the world to me that I was able to play with them as I’ve never seen a Monarch in our garden in Maryland. The “lawn” to the cabin next to ours on Blue Knob Mountain in Claysburg Pennsylvania has been left uncut all summer … and the most incredible wild vegetation has grown up. One is this pretty purple flowered stalk … which happen to be very much beloved by the Monarch Butterflies. Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 70-300mm vr Nikon lens at shutter speed 1/160, aperture f/10.0, exp 0.00, iso 800. Focal length 220mm.

I had a vision to turn my colorful bug images into sepia toned black and white images with a touch of color. But didn’t know how, until today…..
