“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” Romans 12-1 Have you ever felt unloved, abandoned and without hope? I’ve found that my most personal and cherished times with the Lord Jesus are those darkest of days when I have no where else to turn. It is in those times of deep pain and despair when I discover my need to surrender all, and offer to Him the sacrifice of my praise. He has promised to never leave me, even though he knows all about me and the mess that I’ve made of things. As I look back and remember all that He has done for me, I am reassured that He still loves me as His child. This painting has been uniquely rendered with a time-intensive method that uses only the text from the selected Bible verse above as the paintbrush. The Painting with Light technique takes more than 40 hours to render as the verse is repeatedly “brushed” millions of times. The final result is a never-before possible work of modern art, using only God’s word wondrously repeated in a vivid palette of colors. The tiny key-strokes of color are too small to be seen when viewing from a distance; but resonates a vibrant spiritual message of purpose, hope and joy from our Heavenly Father for those whom He has given a “heart to perceive, and eyes to see”. The creative method is much like Seurat’s pointillism technique that creates beautiful large paintings using only small dabs of color. This modern variation unites points of color with powerful and purposeful scripture from the Word of God; a true marriage of color and everlasting light. “It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” Isaiah 55:11 NLT VerseVisions® Inspirational Art with a Promise! “The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.” Psalm 138:8 The God of all time and space knows you by name and has a special purpose just for you. He personally created you, He has plans for you, and His love for you will endure forever. These truths are recorded in the 138th Psalm and are both an assurance and an encouragement for all believers as we look forward to the return of our Lord and Shepherd, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ, The Heir of All Things “Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he _made the worlds;” _Hebrews 1:2 Jesus, Jesus, full of all compassion, / Hear Thy humble suppliant’s cry; / Let me know Thy great salvation, / See, I languish, faint and die. Guilty, but with heart relenting, / Overwhelmed with helpless grief, / Prostrate at Thy feet repining, / Send, O send me quick relief. Whither should a wretch be flying, / But to Him Who comfort gives? / Whither, from the dread of dying, / But to Him Who ever lives? While I view Thee, wounded, grieving, / Breathless, on the cursèd tree, / Fain, I’d feel my heart believing, / That Thou sufferedst thus for me. With Thy righteousness and Spirit, / I am more than angels blest; / Heir with Thee, all things inherit, / Peace, and joy, and endless rest. Jesus Christ, The Heir of All Things; Hebrews 1:2 . “Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, horror and great darkness fell upon him.” Genesis 15:12 This painting was inspired by the powerful devotions penned and published by Oswald Chambers in the early 1900’s. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” John 5:24 Do you ever stop and think about eternity? As a follower of Jesus Christ I look forward to the day when I will leave this earth and join my Lord in His Kingdom. When my burden seems more than I can bear it encourages me to know that my assignment here is only temporary. It’s to that day when I will join my Lord that I press towards. It seems that life is passing me by at the speed of light these days. Monday blurs into Friday and problems come and go. As I grow older I realize that the only constant thing that I have as I pass through time is the council and wisdom that I receive while reading my Bible and talking with God. His Word gives me peace, makes me strong and gives me eternal perspective. When I listen to God rather than the voices of men things also become much clearer. I give up my desire to run in a worldly race that cannot be won, in order to receive and cherish a gift that no one can ever take away from me- the free gift of eternal life. Lord Jesus, thank you for the joy and promise of eternal life that you have put before me. Thank you for knowing me, for understanding me, and for still loving me. How I long to be with you in paradise. Until that day comes Lord, please have your way with me and lead me patiently through this life as your child. “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit” Titus 3:5 Believe in the promises of God. Know in the depth of your heart that you can trust God to be true to what He had promised and bring you through your troubles. As a child of Jesus Christ there is absolutely nothing that can occur in our lives that God has not promised to see us through. God is always there to help us when we cannot help ourselves. He is mighty on our behalf. God never sleeps as He watches over us, and no trouble that comes our way can catch Him off guard. Once we accept Christ as our Savior, God is with us, ready to love and help us in our time of need. We have His promise on that! Blessed of God, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ”. “And Samuel was afraid to tell Eli the vision." 1 Samuel 3:15 Do you remember the last time that you absolutely knew that God was speaking to you? I think that He is always trying to get my attention, but it seems that the only way times that I am really focused on listening are when I am under tremendous pressure. When my life is in the furnace-of-affliction I am desperate to hear His voice and instruction. I am in one of those seasons now in my life. I know that God is speaking loudly to me. My life is upside down and I seem helpless to be able to get my footing. The vision in my spirit however is very clear. God is in absolute control of every event and trial that is allowed to buffet me. As a child of God I am not a victim of these circumstances in my life. “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” Job 13:15 This painting was inspired by the powerful devotions penned and published by Oswald Chambers in the early 1900’s. “You can take everything i have… Just don’t leave my side now”. -A quote from a song called ‘Dont Slow Down’ By: Copeland. This 4 panel series explores the struggle of young boys, in the hope that one day, they become great men. Clouded by a rush of fear, confusion, abuse, neglect, violence, anger, loneliness and misguided environments. These can also be overcome by courage, faith, hope, people, trust, respect, life and above all… love. My intention was to make you feel as if you were 5 years old again. But for some reason my perspective of a 5 year old in today’s world seems like it’s leaped a few years. Maybe its because i now know the effect childhood can have on the life we lead. Like the boy by the pond, creating a ripple. One small decision can change the rest of our lives. “What will you leave to the next generation? Are you building your lives on firm foundations, building something that will endure?” – Pope Benedict XVI (WYD 08 – Sydney, Australia) Panel 1 / Panel 2 / Panel 3 / Panel 4 Artwork details: Acrylic paint (with partial aerosol enamel areas) on 30cm x 30cm wood panel (4 Panels).
