A collaboration between myself and Adrian Carmody We both got to model and photograph each other. Our theme was based on 1940s Gangster / Film Noir. We sourced the props and costuming as best as we could and finally made a date to shoot this in the studio. 4 hours of role play, laughs and a bundle of photos to play with afterward! 2500+ views, 33 faves. This is one of my favourite shots taken on black and white film and taken in St Mark’s Square in Venice, Italy. I have scanned the print. I like the timelessness of this shot and the sense of innocence. She was surrounded by the pigeons at first and she didn’t mind. But later, one flew on her head and she minded a lot. I recently made a sale on redbubble with this shot. A matted print in Off White to Lucy, my sister-in-law, in the UK. Many thanks so much for purchasing this. This was taken inside the Cathedral of Toledo, in Spain. It was taken on film and the print was scanned to digital. The Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo, also called Primate Cathedral of Toledo, is a church in Spain. The seat of the Archdiocese of Toledo, it is one of the three 13th century High Gothic cathedrals in Spain and is considered to be the magnum opus of the Gothic style in Spain. It was begun in 1226 during the reign of Ferdinand III and the last Gothic contributions were made in the 15th century when, in 1493, the vaults of the central nave were finished, during the times of the Catholic Monarchs.

Well it was a very strange day shooting. Part of a series. This image was shot using a / mamiya 220 camera (6X6 medium format) and iLford black and white 120 roll film. / The original is hand printed by moi on Ilford Multigrade IV Fiber Based Paper.

I am not sure of the story behind the dog. It was either walking ( very slowly ) with its master. Or it was an abandoned old dog that was trying to tag along with the woman for company. This is a reworking of an older shot which I cropped to make this image . Picture was taken on a Mamiya 645 on ASA 100 film and image has not been altered. The pedestrian blur is because I used a one second exposure.

I have been scanning lots of negatives lately and came across these that I took last autumn. I didn’t initially print them because my beloved Leica R3 had a light leak – some negs were beyond saving but I have managed to get quite a few where I feel the light leakage has actually been beneficial to the outcome. I may be posting more from this series or might just put them on my website .. they work better as a body of work than singular. You get more of an insight into childhood and how a walk in a frost laden woodland opens up a new world to them.
