Completed in 2004, age 17 This is a slightly cropped version of the original, due to the limits of my camera. My original signature got cropped out so I had to insert a new one in photoshop; in the original it is not actually located there. Original size: (40” x 30”) The two subjects are posed in similar positions, each having a dark, circular central focus., Both images have lines above and surrounding the centres, which draw attention towards the centres. The vertical composition help strenghten the feeling of height given by the vertical lines. Both subjects are organic, however one, the eye, has straight lines and geometrical shapes, while the rose has curvy lines and organic shapes. In the eye, the centre is literally dark, while in the flower the darkness is created by shadows. Featured in Canon DSLR – June 09 – thank you so much!! Featured in The Woman Photographer – June 09 – thank you very much to the hosts! This portrait of Mila (2) was taken in the back garden. Her older sister, Perrin, ran around behind her holding a black cloth to act as a ‘backdrop’ for me. In true 2 year old style, she decided today was the day that she would NOT smile, and as for looking at the camera… you can forget it. Keeping still was also not an option. So this is the end result of a frustrating shoot, but maybe the more interesting for it. Canon 400D, natural light, pp in photoshop CS2.

Featured in Color and Light July 20, 2009. Full Size is Best Another little toad shot … I think this might even be my old buddy from a few previous sessions, based on the star on his little throat!!! Anyhow, he was again very cooperative, bless his heart!!! Image take with the Nikon D300 and the Nikon 60mm macro/micro lens on July 19, 2009. Shutter was 1/400, aperture was f/10.00, exp. -.33, iso 640, spot metering. Other than cloning off a bit of ?? ... image is “as is.”
