Uploaded by way of celebration: That today I reached the grand milestone of 10,000 page views since I joined RB just 8 months or so ago. As you might have noticed, I’ve not uploaded much of late. I’ve done a bunch of new stuff over the past few months, but I’ve been hoarding it away for the BIG re-launch of my folio website / ... Such is the way things go, my work & day to day eating/sleeping/living commitments only leaves me scattered bits of time for the “me-stuff”, notably just now, my site. ...So here’s a sneak preview of a new stuff. I’d be really pleased to hear your thoughts :o)
This is the first time I’ve tried a long exposure shot seriously. My last tries were for half a second during the day time. The silhouette was a man who walked into the shot less than a second before I pressed the shutter and then, miraculously, stayed absolutely still for the 4 seconds (when I say ‘long exposure’, it wasnt THAT long…but i still wanted the wheel to have visible spokes.) and then immediately after it had finished taking, disappeared into the crowds. Weird… The photo was taken in London, at the end of the London Boat Race. This image is used as the Experimental group logo for profiles. Oh, and Jonny watched.
Expermental work! / Also a healing heart for Paul, I hope he sees it and Enlightens his Heart!
This was an experiment with objects and how light bounces off of them. I found this spring and put a few seed beads on it which gave off a weird bokeh effect when placed on a CD. I used my sigma macro lens and the flash on my camera… More experimenting to come though! Enjoy!
Sony Alpha 350. Sony 100mm Macro Lens – 100mm focal length, f 5.6 @ 0.4 sec exposure, ISO 100, tripod. / The light at the end of the tunnel… / Trying to figure out how to light things for macro photography inside – this is a bunch of fairy lights with a feather boa draped over the top! It’s provided multitudes of opportunities to ‘find that ‘perfect’ image as each shake and drop of the boa creates different spots of light with infinite opportunities of which exact bit of feather to focus on, varying exposures, dof etc! AMAZING POSSIBILITIES! (I have been quite pleased with this series, there may be other examples from it showing up on RB from time to time… and I’ve found it has provided a base for me to develop my artistic expression further in directions I could never have imagined…) LIGHT – AS IS FROM THE CAMERA

I worked on a Fractal and it reminded me of the sun.. ..and it also reminded me of the east and west Compass Points. The mathematics behind fractals began to take shape in the 17th century when mathematician and philosopher Leibniz considered recursive self-similarity (although he made the mistake of thinking that only the straight line was self-similar in this sense). MORE INFORMATION ON WHAT A FRACTAL IS HERE It took until 1872 before a function appeared whose graph would today be considered fractal, when Karl Weierstrass gave an example of a function with the non-intuitive property of being everywhere continuous but nowhere differentiable. In 1904, Helge von Koch, dissatisfied with Weierstrass’s very abstract and analytic definition, gave a more geometric definition of a similar function, which is now called the Koch curve. (The image at right is three Koch curves put together to form what is commonly called the Koch snowflake. The sun is actually a star of about medium size; it appears larger than the other stars because of its relative nearness to the earth. The earth’s distance from the sun varies from 91,377,000 mi (147,053,000 km) at perihelion to 94,537,000 mi (152,138,000 km) at aphelion (see apsis). The mean distance is c.92,960,000 mi (149,591,000 km); this is taken as the astronomical unit (AU) of distance used for measuring distances within the solar system. The sun is approximately 865,400 mi (1,392,000 km) in diameter, and its volume is about 1,300,000 times that of the earth. Its mass is almost 700 times the total mass of all the bodies in the solar system and 332,000 times that of the earth. The sun’s surface gravity is almost 28 times that of the earth; i.e., a body on the surface of the sun would weigh about 28 times its weight on earth. The density of the material composing the sun is about one fourth that of the earth; compared with water, the sun’s average density is 1.41. At its center, the sun has a density of over 100 times that of water, a temperature of 10 to 20 million degrees Celsius, and a pressure of over 1 billion atmospheres.
playing around with my camera outside at night with only the porch light. not very flattering light let me tell ya… / longer than normal exposure, as in a second or 3, while i move around with some sheer white fabric… fun times Nikon D80 / Tripod(that’s falling apart lol) / remote
Thank you always for viewing, and I hope you like ! / /
Had a little time / Made a flower mine / Created a quilt / Bit by bit it was built. Pure digital creation. Purely PSE. / Experimenting with Effects. Contrastingthe lacy flowers with the clear black is a commonly used quilting design technique. Hope you like what I created. There are at least 50 Elements. Thanks to the Art Nouveau and the Arts & Crafts Movement for featuring this design. honour much appreciated. Thank you to Cards for Everyday for featuring this creation. / The honour you do my work is much appreciated. / Many thanks to the hosts for all there work.
Bulb exposure of approx. 1 minute using remote control; hand held flash covered in fabric fired twice; “aura” created by wrapping a flashlight in a clear plastic baggie.
Experimental art I took one car, darkened it for effect, then copied it and altered the Hue. Then I used stitch and put the two seperate photo’s together. Hope you like it.
Experimenting with slow exposures… Sony Alpha 350, Tokina 19-35mm, f3.5-4.5 Lens, f4.0 @ 4.0 Sec Exp, focal length 24mm, ISO 100, Tripod, Remote shutter release. Some contrast adjustments in post-process.
